I've been to the Konzerthaus twice this trip and had seats in the stalls. The first was to see the Dresdner Kreuzchor and Philharmonie and the second was Truls Mork and the Bergen Philharmonic. Both were special occasions. The architecture is classic and opulent, the acoustics are great and the Grosse Saal just the right size. There is a good... More

Our Princess Cruise Tour took us to the Gendarmenmarkt Square where there are three prominent buildings including the French Church(Huguenot)...the German Church and the Concert Hall(Konzerthaus). We did not have the time to go inside but from outside it was a beautiful building located in a very popular square.

Very beautiful concert hall and set aside sometime to come here listen to the performance for the experience, they have concert almost every night and the ticket price is very reasonable, just buy it one night before the performance.

As everyone else at the place I was staying got drunk, I went alone sightseeing at night and I stumbled upon this building, it was quite a sight, really pretty. I recommend visiting at night.

Another famous place & an attraction next to the French Dom. We took a horse cart as our baby daughter was tired. But I would recommend to walk around & explore

Built in the early 1800's, the building was severely damaged in WWII and rebuilt from 1977 onward. Acoustically considered one of the 5 best concert halls in the world.

It's a beautiful building located at one of the best squares in Berlin. We went for a concert of classical music and it was very good. The inside is simple, romantic and classy. We paid 24 euros each for a balcony in the end of a room. But it was a good spot as we could both see and hear... More

The Konzerthaus is a beautifully resotred concert hall. The acoustics are very good. There was a great warmth from the audience who really wanted the youth orchestra to succeed.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
