Context organizes scholar-led walking tours of Berlin that are capped at six people maximum. The aim is to create an in-depth learning experience with a lot of back and forth between the participants and the guide, who is usually a university professor or researcher.

Our tour with Finn Ballard was excellent. Finn had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the wall. He used a tablet to add informative material. He was a very pleasant guide and we would unhesitatingly recommend him and the tour. The Johnson family SYDNEY.

We took the Berlin Art Scene tour led by Jason and were very happy with the tour and the amount of information he packed into our time with him. He was flexible and let our interests and preferences direct the tour. Based on our Berlin...More

Jason Benedict did a marvelous job on both of these Context Tours. Context Tours are not inexpensive but in the case of a Jason it was well worth the price. My wife and I gaied an excellent understanding of the Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, and Roman...More

This tour was superb. Finn went into the history (and taught us things, eg, the Ghost Stations that we used throughout our time in Berlin) of Germany and Berlin at the time of the building and later destruction of the wall. Unlike many guides, Finn...More

Heri's personal story, with contacts on both sides of the wall added great depth to his comments. We also liked being out of the normal tourist areas but still in places of great historical interest.

No Berlin neighbourhood is more popular with the young
and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of
Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area
became known as “Little Istanbul“. Today the
percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors
still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the
daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by
the canal in one of the street cafés up and down

Hi Carol, we've just spotted your question - sorry about that! We are strong believers in experiencing a city on the ground, up close and personal. Failing that, there's a city bus route in Berlin, #100, that drives past... More
