Museum für Fotografie (Museum of Photography) is one of the 20+ museums that belong to "State Museums of Berlin" (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin). It is neither at the famous Museum Island location nor Kuturforum near Potsdamerplatz, but in a building behind Zoologische Garten station. It...More

The Museum of Photography is next to the zoo station in a fabulous old building. The entry price is reasonable at €10. Opens at 11am but not on Mondays, it's closed. Very informative on the subject of Helmut Newtons work and also his wife, sudoname,...More

Honestly: In my opinion this museum need a new young leader. Helmut Newton collection was dull, 'cause there is again same photos - and who want´s to see Newton´s car!? Sorry to say, but the spirit of this museum was from DDR. I expected a...More

We had time to kill before heading to a gig and so opted to try out this photography museum which was located fairly near to our hotel. It's a large building with a huge entrance staircase but was lacking something ambience wise that I couldn't...More

One of the best museum I visited on that weekend in Berlin (along with CO Berlin). I loved the lobby with the red carpettes stairs and giant photos. The private collection on Helmut Newton was also great.

Visited between Christmas and new year 2016. Usually - as a keen amateur-photographer - I like Photomuseums very much. But this was an exception. You can hardly describe this as a museum. The "museum" was originally established by celebrity and semi-pornographic photographer Henry Newton. And...More

Great stuff. Really cool for even those who normally aren't too museum savvy. Also easy to get to! I would definitely recommend for a ~2 hr activity.

Slightly confusing layout and not a huge amount of written information on Helmut Newton exhibition. A little pricey but kept us out of the rain. Coffee shop was closed. Bookshop is worth a look (without having to pay in) but again a little pricey.

Thought that this was vastly overrated to be called Museum of Photography when really it is pretty much all Mr Newton. Was not really all that impressed, mostly just photos of people who were "somebody" back in their day. Did not know most of them....More

With a few hours to spare, I spent a lovely while at the museum. There were only a few people in the museum when I was there. I guess having an interest in or experience with photography is a help as it is a quite...More
