Visited whilst staying with my brother in Berlin. Amazing that this place was still incarcerating people until 1989. The lengths the Stasi went to torture people were chilling. Only downside was we did the English speaking tour and our guide was not particularly engaging.

A very respectfully kept historical site. A sad window on the past, alas. Important perspective on past events.

By far one of the most interesting places in Berlin I have visited. I could have stayed for twice as long. It is affordable and well worth the money and time to attend. Our guide was excellent, so informative and presented everything to us in...More

This was a great experience, providing excellent insight into what life in East Germany was like. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and passionate, which made the tour even better. Only complaint (of course I found one) is that a half hour video presentation precedes...More

Can't recommend the guided tours here enough. Our guide (cannot remember name) was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable! Thanks!

We visited as a family with a teenaged daughter. Our guide was Christina, who did a great job of guiding us around this very interesting place. We found the plave quite easily via a tram from Alexander Platz. All in all a must see for...More

Easy to find (contrary to many reviews) - clear directions on website so won't repeat (tram from central Berlin). English tours at 10.30, 12.30 & 14.30 - cost c €6. You get a 30 min background bid & a 1.5 hour tour. Very insightful into...More

Very thoughtful experience. An insight into a very sick and evil world with a lot of paradoxes. Not least, some of the former guardians today still live just next to and almost daily meet former inmates who today work as guides on the spot. A...More

This was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Berlin - For just €6.00 I gained access to the permanent exhibition and an English language tour with an extremely charismatic and informative guide. Highly recommended!

We visited Stasi prison and had a free English tour guide. We didn't really know what to expect in all honesty but I have to say this was a really moving tour. This gave a real insight into what happened under Soviet control. The details...More

Why don't you email them? I emailed them about something else and they replied very promptly. Look at their website for the address.
Is there parking available?

I don't recall seeing a specific parking lot. We visited between Christmas and New Year's, and there was plenty of street parking near the entrance. As others have said, this is a side street in a residential area so... More
I can't find how to get on this tour - their website said only group tours allowed, and we are only 2 of us. How do we get on it? How much does it cost? How long is it? Where is it?

Hi there. You CAN visit and take a tour, even if you're not in a group. No pre-booking is required, just turn up (a bit in advance) and get your ticket from the admission office which is next to the cafe and shop. When they... More
