Zoo Berlin is home to over 15.000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 1.500 species and subspecies. It is the most speciose zoo worldwide. Zoo Berlin is located in heart of Berlin, opposite to the train station Zoologischer Garten.

The tasks our zoos of today are faced with are many and diverse. And there is more than one reason to keep animals. Since 1844 visitors to Zoo Berlin can relax and learn. Comparable with a living, green oasis the zoo today lies directly at the heart of the city. Here you can relax and learn new facts about the most diverse zoological subjects as your interest takes you.

We took a risk in going here in the rain but it was on a sightseeing bus route and we are really glad we slotted it in. The range of animals to see in a relatively small area is amazing. Our jaws were dropping alone with the rhino, hippo, zebra, polar bear, lion, panther, elephant & giraffe! Sadly the birds... More

Brilliant zoo, lots of space to walk around so its not too crowded around each exhibit. My son (5) loved the hippos and watched them for nearly an hour!

Absolutely loved this Zoo! Great price, around €10. The Zoo is massive and beautiful. There is a fantastic array of animals. Really enjoyed my time here and will return on my next trip to Berlin.

Our titles is a rainy day because it's our last day in Berlin and it has been raining a lot. We'd promised our 12 year old daughter a visit to the zoo. We payed 50€ for two adults and a child for both the zoo and the aquarium. Rain, rain, rain. Very little visitors so a lot of space and... More

The visit day was rainy and most of animals were inside, but still the visit was pleasant. Place is cozy and there are many interesting animals. Gorillas, elephants and lions were our favorites. It was very easy to get there from Alexanderplats (bus number 100, 200 and TXL).

If you love animals Berlin Zoo is a must see on your trip to Berlin €20 Per adult for the zoo & aquarium and a lot of activities to do and animals see from adult to infant. A fantastic walk through the gardens and plenty to see for all ages.

Visited is zoo on 14th at roughly mid day. Bought the ticket online which is easier for tourists as the booking office barely spoke English. When visiting the zoo there was a lot of construction going on, which was a bit disruptive. A lot of enclosures were empty because they hadn't let the animals out yet. We went to visit... More

A zoo with no barriers! Well ok that sounds a little scary, but for those that have visited zoos in the U.K. they tend to have an array of fences. They do quite frankly get in your way. Not here in Berlin though. They opt for big ditches which allows for an uninterrupted view of the animals, and glass windows.... More

A nice zoo. The monkey area is a must see. We spent like 3 hours in the Zoo. Cafe basic but very reasonable prices. Highly recommended to everyone.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
