Helmut Newton's photography is well known through his fashion shots for Vogue, etc. so I knew what to expect. However, it was a revelation to see his wife's portraits. AKA as Alice Springs, June Newton's portraits are fantastic. I loved a series of pictures taken on Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles in 1984 of the local youth fashionista. I was totally... More

As a fashion photographer myself, A trip here was a no-brainer. Newton is pretty much an Idol of mine and inspired my career, and one of the reasons I went to university as a teenager to study photography. There's a goof variety of work here, but not actually that much my Helmut himself, though they have varying exhibitions. It was... More

It's probably a very good museum if you are a fan of Newton. For a novice like me you will see his jet set friends gallery portrait. The price is quite expensive for so little amount of interesting photos ( meaning no famous people on it)

Ok, I'll admit it. I love naked women. It is what it is. I'm genetically wired that way. And Helmut Newton gives me what I want. The Foundation is really a museum housing Newton's personal collection including, of course, original photographs as well as his displays of his camera equipment, and so on. When he was active, digital photography didn't... More

We spent a good couple of hours in the beautifully presented galleries. The 'Leaving is Entering' exhibition from 1961-68 we found particularly engaging.

Went to see the permanent collection and also the Alice Springs portraits. Helmet Newton "Yellow press" collection was somewhat disturbing but in line with his other work. Never really understood why portraiting naked women and more than flirting with pornographic themes has been considered art. As such, Helmut Newton-works were as we were expecting. Alice Springs portraits were much more... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
