I've been on many guided tours around Berlin and other places around the world, and I know that an excellent tour is made by an excellent guide. Brian loves Berlin and it shows throughout his stories about the city and its past, and inevitably you fall in love with the city, too. Brian is a professional actor and an excellent... More

If you are interested in the history of Berlin during the Third Reich; the rise of the Nazis; the German Resistance; and the fall of Berlin to the Russians: then this is a tour for you. You will learn from this tour even if you consider yourself already steeped in the history. And you will see where exactly some of... More

Excellent tour with excellent Barnaby. Really funny, informed, educated, patient, helpful guide. Easy to follow and you see the most important things and hear information you can't by yourself. Barnaby thank you from Montenegro.

The tour of Sachsenhausen was one of the highlights of our trip to Berlin. It was really interesting and enlightening and our amazing tour guide Brian Bell made an uncomfortable subject in to a really pleasant experience without reducing the amount of respect the site deserves. The amount of knowledge he possessed and his way of being open to all... More

Did the "Famous Walk" tour with Ulli as our guide - just fantastic, took us to all of the main places, with a break so we didnt get too exhausted.

My mom loved The Famous Insider Walk by JJ. She claimed that this is the best walking tour we've done and (believe me!) we've done a lot. It was amazing how we were able to see the culture, history, and beauty of Berlin in just a few hours. The self-admitted-corny jokes were just a plus! Shout out to JJ's #1... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the 4 hour "Third Reich Berlin" tour today with Barnaby. He was an exceptionally well-informed and fun guide. We learned lots of new details, even after having been on several other WW2 tours.

The Third Reich tour was really interesting and well-planned, though obviously a four-hour walking tour is very weather dependent, so keep that in mind. I went with my younger brother, he's 12 and four hours of walking was pushing his limits; the break in the middle was needed. He also found the tour very good and worthwhile in the end,... More

Today we undertook a 3 hour walking tour taking in the sights of Cold War Berlin. We prebooked with Insider tours and our trip was tailored to the GCSE topic of our students and in a packed itinerary our guide met us as we finished up at our previous stop and took us around to finish near our accommodation. The... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
