A great way to see Berlin on a rainy day (an umbrella is vital!). We booked this tour for the end of our time in Berlin and it was a great way to spend our last day. Our guide Barnaby was very informative, friendly and had a real love for Berlin which made the 4 hour walking tour fascinating. I... More

Brian Bell on the Historical Tour was fabulous. 4hrs went very quickly - despite the minus 3 cold! WRAP UP! Our 2 kids (11&8yrs) were kept entertained and the walk was fine for them. 20min lunch stop in a bakery. I can't recommend this enough - lots of bite sized information delivered amusingly. We learnt so much and felt we'd... More

Despite the prior high recommendations from friends the Insider famous walk exceeded all my expectations. Our guide, Englishman Michael Dempsey, has conducted these walks for seven years and it shows. He was superb! -articulate, expert and with a superb grasp of language; think of the best and most engaging history lecturer you have heard. In addition to his detailed knowledge... More

This is my fifth time taking a school group around Berlin and we always book a guided 3 hour walking tour at the start. The guides are always brilliant. Well worth it.

Excellent way to see Berlin even on a rainy cold February morning. Very entertaining and informative. We found our guide Barnaby was engaging and knowledgeable. This tour was a great introduction to Berlin and its history in a thought provoking manner.

My daughter and I did The Famous Walk tour today, in pouring rain, with Barnaby. Outstanding. He's a genuinely knowledgeable and deeply humane guy. What a privilege to be guided by him. Thank you.

We went on a Famous Walk tour with Barry in February and it was fantastic. We started by learning all about the history of Germany and specifically Berlin before visiting most of the major tourist sites. Barry provided excellent background and pointed out many things that you would simply walk straight passed if you didn't go in this tour. There... More

Everything I had read about these tours turned out to be true. Our impressive and witty Irish guide Phil started from a base assumption that his customers were intelligent and informed, and therefore treated us as people who wanted to learn and become even more informed. He was therefore, just my kind of tour guide. Had we more time in... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
