We spent 6 hrs in the museum including a lunch break circa 45 min. Had the text plates and audio material be available also in english, the time spent in the museumvwould had been even longer. Now the text plates and audio material were only in german. The exhibitions on the main area were constructed so, that they could be... More

Museum offers a wide choice of topics from Oceania, Asia, America, Asia. Because it is a bit overwhelming to see everything I concentrated on a few sections and have to come back for the rest. The presentation often offers personal views from people living in the areas. So you can listen to interviews or read about topics or find a... More

We went with family to see the new exhibition on USA as part of the family are off there next year. We had a guide and she was very informative - it took around an hour but of course, you can stay longer and go back over some of the areas we skipped. The exhibition will be on for some... More

The museum has a good selection of exhibits from Oceania, Asia and some from Africa. The Asian display is a mix of religious, grave and everyday objects. The top floor has a number of displays and invites you to feel guilty about refugees and climate change. It also has exhibits on Benin bronzes and Ancient Egypt.

I spent a few hours in this museum which really is a must for nature, culture and geography enthusiasts. Most of my time was spent in the Oceania section, which I really enjoyed. Do note, most of the descriptions within the museum are only in German, which might put most foreigners off. I recommend the museum changes this.

The museum is really good but definitely not for everyone. Only people interested in natural history will appreciate the collection. Unfortunately, the 3rd floor (Americas exhibition) is being renovated (till Nov 2016), but the remaining part is nonetheless really impressive. Allow up to half a day for a thoroughtful visit.

This museum is situated just next to the main railway station, so there is no problem to find it. The tickets (EUR 6.50/adult) are bought in the large entrance hall, where you can also find a cafe and restaurant. Toilets and cloakrooms (free - but you need a coin to remove the key from the locker, you get it back... More
