This was my third visit to the Museum, the second since its revamp. This is an essential museum for anyone interested in German Cinema and especially UFA, DEFA and the films of the DDR and the Babelsberg Studios since unification. As a lifelong enthusiast for moving image, and lecturer in Film & TV Studies, I always find it too much... More

Before this visit I wasn't aware of Babelsberg Film Studios but following this museum I was far more aware of it and it's output. Great museum, very clear, clean and takes you through all sorts of the background to movies. There's also a small reproduction of a 1920's cinemsa when you see quick excerpts of films made at babelsberg. If... More

Visited Potsdam on Feb 2016, mainly to see Sans Souci Park and Palaces. On my return to the airport I stumbled across this beautiful building which turned out to be the Film Museum. I was guided around by a charming and knowledgeable young guide, in flawless t. Without this, the museum would have been interesting, but I quickly realised an... More

The entrance of the museum consists of a walk among mirrors - so you can actually see yourself (and others) in every mirror in the room , quite fascinating and very clever. We saw the Martin Scorsese exhibition which was very interesting.

You really need endless time to enjoy all the information you can find at Film Museum, Potsdam. I was interested in Babelsberg Studio history, so I focused on one not so big room full of photos, audio information, pieces of old film equipment (this technology revolution in film is great!), even make-up belonged to the film stars of the past....
