This is an interesting church, just to pop in and have a look at, but the real attraction is the tower, which you can go almost to the top of for five euros. The view from there is spectacular, taking in the whole of the touristy bit of Hamburg, including the impressive docks. An easy walk from the centre of... More

We visited Hamburg to see the Christmas markets but stumbled across St Michael's and it's amazing Christmas Market by chance! Some different stalls and food outlets to the main town hall market and very friendly!

Every city has at least one view point. The church is nice (sorry that's all I will comment after seeing so many churches across Europe). Went there for the view. The climb up is long but manageable. There is a lift as well for people who prefer not to climb. It's the views from the top which makes the whole... More

When you are there you need to see this. Great views on hamburg for a good price. You can walk to the top or walk 52 stairs and then take the elevator. And do NOT miss the inside of the beautiful church.

It calls attention for having 2 colors (one of the towers is darker :) ). Impressive look, inside and outside it. If it's still open when you're around it, enter to check the clear and fresh space indoors.

It was only €7 to do the tour of the crypt and up the tower. It is all in German so it is a little bit difficult to understand.. but Bach has his crypt here. At the top of the tower there is a great 360 degree view of the city from the top.

We popped in to the Michael on a Sunday morning. Half the party climbed the tower while the rest went down to the crypt. Everyone found it extremely interesting. Views are amazing of course, Good value.

It is one of the must churches in Hamburg. The outside isn't very attractive but the inside is awesome (form and colours)

I saw this while I was part of the Robin's Free walking tour.. this was the last point of the tour of old city. The organ inside the church is massive, and one of the very nice Protestant churches I have seen.. One can go up the tower for 5/4 Euros and get a lovely view of the city from... More

We went Sunday around 13.00 but it was not open for tourists until 15.30pm. Maybe they have some kind of events and they don't accept visitors during this hours on a Sunday. So we had the opportunity to admire the building only from outside. So make sure if you go that you will be able to visit the church. Also... More
