Our hotel was just round the corner from here so we walked around / past many times on our visit. A lovely place to eat / drink or just sit around as many people did. Lovely in the daytime with the spring flowers just starting to bloom and great at night time when it's all lit up. Really relaxing and... More

This is the smaller of the two artificial lakes in Hamburg. The lake is located near the town hall square and offers boat hiring, restaurants, cafés and a beautiful setting with a bridge as the backdrop. Especially beautiful after dark when it is dramatically lit.

I was exploring Hamburg and came across the two man-made lakes formed from the Alster River. The Binnenalster is the smaller of the two. It is lined with large buildings and has a lovely water jet fountain shooting a large spray into the air. There is a walkway along the water's edge with places to relax and enjoy the views.

It is the smaller of two artificial lakes created by ponding the Alster river. Great place to hang out, enjoy looking , taking in the nearby sights, like the Town Hall and the shopping streets. Enjoy watching the swans, pigeons, ducks. A calming place to unwind in he centre of Hamburg city. After that can proceed to have a meal... More

We walked over to this place after having dinner across the street. We found it was a nice place to sit and relax and enjoy the lake. We would recommend coming to visit this place and relax, maybe even a picnic lunch to enjoy!!

If you are in Hamburg this is a pearl. With good reasoning the Hamburges claim Hamburg is one of the prettiest cities in the world. I agree. Close to Binnenalster is a lot of shops and I can recommend the Neuer Wall.

This is such a lovely area! In one of the sides of the lake, near the stairs, there are swans, ducks and some other water birds chilling. It's funny to watch and take pictures of them. It's near the subway and the Europa Passage, a famous mall in the city.

it looks very photogenic and you would like to take a lot of pics of it, but if you want a drink, it may be better somewhere else having this zone so close to the expensive shopping street.

Went to this attraction 2 times in our visit to Hamburg. The first time in light rain, the second time in sunshine. You can take a boat cruise along the shore adjoining Jungfernstieg which goes under the arched bridge that links Binnenalster to the larger lake AuBenalster. You can walk along the walking paths around both lakes enjoying the lake... More
