The idea is simple: In completely darkened rooms blind people lead small groups of guests through an exhibition in which everyday situations are experienced altogether differently, without eyesight. In the dark, the daily routine becomes a new experience. A reversion of roles is created: sighted people are confronted with different ways of perception; blind people provide them with security and a sense of orientation transmitting a world without pictures. In addition to the exhibition, we still offer the Dinner in the Dark, Seminars & Trainings in the dark, Brunch in Silence and other great events. The response is remarkable: Since 1988 "Dialog im Dunkeln" was presented in more than 30 countries and over 130 cities worldwide and it has reached up to 8 million visitors.

This was amazing. Our guide (10:15am on 26th march) was fantastic. Really helpful. Really makes you understand more how blind people go about their day. The bar at the end with beer was amazing! Take in some money to order at the bar. Only improvement i could recommend is being able to look around what you have been through after... More

I will never look at a blind person the same way after spending 90 minutes trying to find my way through a park, crossing a busy street, figuring out a Kitchen and ordering a drink. Time well spent!

The waiter told us, to keep the spoon after the starter. This will be more easy to finish the dinner. Before dinner, you'll be asked what kind of food you like : fish, meat, vegetarian aso. But you do not know, what you'll get in detail. Surprise : after the dinner you get explained, what you have eaten. All of... More

This was a great and unusual experience. We were lead by a guide called Ray who did a bilingual tour in German and English. He was very charismatic and made us feel at ease straight away.

We had a lovely tour guide who made sure that we enjoyed the experience. It is interesting to spend so much time in the dark and to experience different surfaces etc. Well worth a visit. Can you please ensure that the toilets are cleaned on a regular bases and I must say the display in Braille (menu of the coffee... More

You are led in a small group by a genuine blind person through different life scenarios, through the woods, around a flat, crossing the road, boat trip, pub etc., all in a converted warehouse with no residual light at all. It's the weirdest experience as your world contracts to just what you can hear and touch and feel under your... More

Dialogue in the Dark makes it possible to better understand how the blind experience their surroundings and relate to the difficulties they face at times. Being guided by someone with visual impairment is a refreshing and naturally equalizing experience that renders our reliance on visuals superfluous! (Besides our guide was an amazingly funny guy who made us all feel safe... More

Dialog im Dunkeln is a fascinating insight into experiencing the world without the use of your eyes. A blind guide leads you through a series of 'everyday' situations, which you attempt to navigate with their help. You quickly learn about some of the challenges of living without sight, some of which you might expect and some of which you probably... More

... very much depending on the guide you are having. One time we had a great one, the other time he just did his job..... - BUT: great experience to see how you can see the world without seeing. We did it with our kids aged 10-12. Perfect!

I have been wanting to visit one of the numerous Dialogue In The Dark exhibitions for a number of years. It is out of sheer coincidence that after booking a trip to Hamburg, I noticed this was one of the locations. The initial premise may not sound too appealing to all; you are COMPLETELY blind (there is not the slightest... More
