We had not visited a concentration camp before and did not know what to expect. We booked the tour as on of our excursions. We had a local guide who had been there before so she knew the site well. We were shown the names...More

I started at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and from platform 11, I got the 9.21am train to Buchen. It was one stop (10 minutes) to Bergedorf station. Single way cost 3.20 euros. From Bergedorf station, go upstairs and there is a connected bus station. I had just...More

Not as well known as similar memorials but interesting, thought provoking and poignant. Staff are friendly and informative as well as very kind and helpful. Easy to get to using public transport.

I have visited several concentration camps before, and I was not disappointed with the available information on this one. Of course it is smaller than Auschwitz, but there are still quite some buildings with information, and collected items. Interesting (and dark) story about this place....More

We attended the camp as part of a group on an excursion from our P&O cruise ship. Our tour guide, Frank Lehmann, was excellent and really brought home the facts about this concentration camp, made personal by his account of his grandfathers experience whilst a...More

Much smaller than other camps, but deeply connected to Hamburgs history. Recommended to arrive by car. Public transportation rare.

Huge place with several buildings. All sections are well explained. Sad, tough but has to be seen. A little bit far from the city but it is worth a visit. Amazing historical work behind. No fee but free offers.

This memorial is close to Hamburg and was used by the NAZIs as a concentration camp for the Hamburg area. Today it is a well preserved memorial.

Hello, I don't know where your hotel is but transportation in Hamburg is fantastic and you will be able to reach the camp by train and then bus. I had never been to Hamburg before and figured it out very easily. Good luck!
