Get there to understand where Goethe came from, frame the context of his childhood and enjoy the lovely exhibits, such as the hall clocks or the old furniture. Plan for 2hrs to get through.

When topic is Goethe, whatever is related to him, is a must see. So, there is an entrance and a ballroom then next to it an house. Again, it is Goethe, you will find it fully interesting if you are familiar with his work.

The original house was bombed during the war, but the museum's staff at the time had the incredible foresight to remove ALL the contents of the museum and move them into hiding. The reconstruction is authentic and really beautiful. It gives a good sense of...More

The city is Goethe. You must see how he lived and read about the history of this man. The house is well kept and all of the exibits take time to absorb. A must see for the tourist.

Goethe's house is quite interesting and you are able to visit four floors. All of the rooms are interesting, but I liked his study, the hall of paintings and the library the best. How the house was heated was also interesting.

I know little about Goethe except that he was one of the greats of German literature and having visited his house i am none the wiser as it has very limited interpretation (2 sided A4 sheet about the rooms in English). To be fair I...More
