Steep walk with lots of steps and cobblestones but well worth the effort. Stunning panoramic views of the city and countryside.

The castle in Marburg is well worth a visit. The castle is interesting and also contains a nice museum that exhibits the history of Marburg and the surrounding area. The admission price is very reasonable. Not all exhibits have English descriptions but the entry desk can provide you with an Englis guide for use during the visit.

I wasn't planning on going in as I looked through the window and saw pottery. I took photos and went and had lunch at a cafe in the Marktplatz, instead. I decided to look at TripAdvisor and after seeing the comments, braved the cold rainy day and hiked back up. I was NOT disappointed!! I enjoyed looking at things from... More

Another charming medieval town on the Lahn river, Marburg is dominated by 2 impressive landmarks: Marburg Castle and St. Elizabeth's Church. Build in the 11th century, Marburger Schloss (Marburg castle) had many uses over the years: fortified castle, garrison, residence, prison, archive and lately as Museum of Cultural History. After a steep walk to the top of the hill, the... More

Some great artefacts, interesting buildings and architecture. Fantastic views over the city of Marburg. Several of the exhibits and sections were under renovation at the time, so keen to go back. Not very much in English but you can get by.

Very cool Schloss with plenty of histories. Make sure you do visit the museum, which has lots of middle-age instantiations and souvenirs))) walking around the Schloss is better after 4 pm, where the sun is not up.

No matter how you are going to reach this castle by foot you have to be prepared to walk a lot of steps! It is wonderful through the center of the town. And it gives you a great feeling when you have reached the castle with its beautiful sights.

Along with the Markt-Platz, Elizabeth-Kirche and the University Marburger Landgrafenschloss is among main attractions of the city. It has additional advantages because it may serve as a Mirador, which offers superb views of the city and neighboring vineyards on the slopes, and from which are visible even the towers of Elisabeth-Kirche. And the walk to the Schlossberg hill on which... More

If you're a fan of the Reformation, you'll love Marburg Castle. Luther and Zwingli met here in 1529 and our family made it a point to stop here for the day. There are exhibits about the meeting, and a general museum of the area. Reasonable entry, and the children liked walking up to the castle and around the grounds.
