I've wanted to visit the Dom since hearing about it in high school. That said, nothing prepared me for the sheer size of the structure - it's massive. Due to its size, there is always a part of it under construction/restoration. Talking a walk around the Dom lets you see where the brickwork had to be replaced during the war;... More

Absolutely number one stop in Cologne. This Cathedral is stunning and will catch your eyes during both day and night times. Make sure you climb the stairs to see the city from the top! Shall I say it's A LOT of steps, in spiral, in a somewhat tight area. Be ready to share the stairs with incoming traffic and take... More

Great view from the top of the tower but there are a LOT of steps! It is definitely worth going up first thing in the morning when it is quiet - the route up and down the tower is via one not particularly wide spiral staircase. The advantage of going early is that you can go up at your own... More

We attended mass yesterday morning and although it was extremely cold, the experience was breathtaking. We couldn't understand a word of the service in German of course but we didn't need to. The whole experience was beautiful and peaceful and the music of the organ and the choir was profoundly moving. So glad we experienced the cathedral as it was... More

Undeniably one of the biggest and gorgeous cathedrals I have ever seen during my travels in Europe. The size was astounding, and the inside was also jaw-dropping. Highly recommended to take a walk around and inside, and maybe venture up the cathedral too!

We were in Koln for business accidentally on Epiphany. The Cathedral was delightfully decorated, and full of people celebrating the day. The building is beautiful, with big nicely decorated windows. Recommended a visit!

Pity no English signs explaining the items in the cathedral:-( great shame as you have to hunt for the info. Very nippy inside during the month of January. The architecture itself is breathtaking, a must see.
