Right next to the cathedral and the Ludwig museum so if you are in the area a must. Very interesting but would have been more informative if everything had English descriptions.

It was amazing to visit this museum after visiting the cathedral. when you hear how they discover it and prepare it to be museum, you should respect German people. you will hear a lot about the Roman emperor and their civilization. i think you should visit it if you visit the cathedral.

Small compared with other Roman museum, but very interesting to understand the life in a Roman camp.

This museum is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. From small trinkets and earrings to massive statues are structures, the museum has quite a bit to see. I particularly like the mosaic tile floors. If you are one of those who needs to stop and read about everything, be sure to make plenty of time. English and German.

The museum has so interesting pieces and will keep you occupied for 1 to 2 hours. But the variation isn't much, it has some great glass and eathern ware pieces but it larger pieces are mainly the same with a large number grave stones. It is worth a visit but don't expect to be amazed.

I had already visited most European museums known for their Roman artifact collections, but I was astounded by the sheer size and quality of this collection. The most surprising thing is the condition these artifacts are in -- well-intact and well-preserved. English information tags provide very useful information for most items. The museum also has a remarkably rich collection of... More

I would never have thought that my two adult sons and I could be so captivated by a Roman glass exhibition! This was only one of the hidden treasures of this fantastic museum. The mosaics were stunning. The artefacts amazing and plentiful and the museum itself, beautifully laid out and easy to navigate. Could've stayed there a whole day. Easily.... More

We hopped in for a quick first visit with a three year old and a five year old. They were very interested. The exhibits are not that interesting for their age group, though. Nothing has changed much in the last 20 years to appeal more to the young. They should work on that. Nice that the little ones did not... More

It has a large collection of Roman artifacts from the Roman settlement in Cologne. We got to see the renowned Dionysus mosaic, the reconstructed sepulcher of legionary Problicius, an extensive collection of Roman glassware and an array of Roman and medieval jewelry .
