Take some time in the morning before the fog lifts to tour this incredible museum. There are pieces you have heard of your whole life and see in history books that you'll be surprised to see around the corner!

Interesting art museum, focusing on the period between medieval times until the Impressionist period. The section I liked the most is the one with the 19th century art and the Impressionist artists. The underground level exhibition with the history of the museum also seems interesting,...More

This wonderful art gallery is the sort of place you could spend hours and hours at. Very good shop indeed, superb collections sensibly arranged. Plenty of seats to allow you to gaze at the artworks. However, fewer than 5 stars because of an annoying jobsworth....More

Surprisingly wide range of works of art, mediaeval church art exceptional in breadth and quality. Good selection of other centuries, all well presented and with good English titles.

This is a pure art museum, which moves chronologically from early religious art through the Dutch Masters to Impressionism and beyond. The quality of works on display is absolutely excellent and there is plenty of seating so you can soak in the atmosphere.

The museum is located on 3 floors, each having a different era, starting with the Middle Ages and ending with 20th century art. The focus of the collection, certainly the medieval part is on German, and mostly even more local, paintings. Few paintings are world...More
