About
This famous Romanesque cathedral, re-opened in 1985 following extreme damage during World War II, takes second billing behind only the Dom as Cologne's most prominent religious structure.

One of the great 12 romanesque churches of Cologne, built in the 10th century, still a monastery of the Brothers of Jerusalem. I would say, it is a 'must-see' in the old town of Cologne!

If you are in Cologne this place is a must see. The colored buildings make a great contrast and the look very nice near the church

St. Martin was beautiful and the whole city around it was so charming and rustic. It's a gorgeous walk down the Rhine

Pretty outside, well kept but quite empty inside. No photos allowed (there is not much relevant art to highlight, though)

Visiting these structures gives a peek at ancient history unavailable in the United States. How these beautiful structures were built without modern technology is a mystery!

To be clear: Gross St Martin is a parish church, and not a tourist destination. If you are not a churchgoer it's best to have a walk around the outside and go to the amazing nearby cathedral. However, if you want to attend a service...More
