Degas and Rodin exhibition

Very good, except they need to write information in English and low enough for people to be able to read it also. But, I enjoyed the exhibition and learned something new.

We visited just the Degas-Rodin exhibition and enjoyed it. Interesting information in German and English about their lives and techniques. Learned a lot - for example about the influence that photography had on them. Good mix of pieces, including a few (not a lot) of their most famous works. Gallery has a small shop with the usual things for sale.... More

We were disappointed to find the museum closed until 10 Sept 2016. We had come all the way from Australia and had made a special one night detour to Wuppertal, to see a Dali painting in this museum. We checked the website again while we were there, and there was no notice on the English website to say the museum... More

The museum has a nice collection of paintings, impressive for a regional museum. The ticket price however is high and you have to leave your bag in the reception.

You will have a difficult time. I was surprised that this museum that often received awards for their exhibits, has clearly decided to not to translate anything for their guests. So bring a German-English dictionary if you want to know titles or anything else. No audio guides (only for the tours...in German) and no reading materials in German. I saw... More

The history of von der Heydt Museum is linked to their sponsors the von der Heydt family. Namely it is the home of the European branch of the Eduard von der Heydt collection, whereas the ethnographic part (mainly art works from Asia and Africa) is located in the Rietberg Musum in Zurich. A few aspects of this collection are remarkable:... More

My wife and I visited here with friends from Germany. We saw the Budha to Picasso exhibit. It was a very good exhibit with many nice pictures by a variety of artists. The biggest drawback of the exhibit for us was that all of the descriptions were in German. There were no audio guides, pamphlets or other displays in English.... More

Interesting modern art (paintings mainly) and Asian Art museum, that also tells the story of the founding and supporting von Der Heydt family in an interesting way. By It we have never felt unwelcome as visitors in any other of the dozens of international art museum as in this one. The staff will follow all your steps in three meters... More

The Von der Heydt Museum in the centre of Wuppertal is close to the city's famous Monorail suspension train line and so if you've gone to travel on that, it would be foolish to miss out on what is a first-rate museum and art gallery. Although it has a collection of work from the Seventeenth century up to the present... More
