We enjoyed seeing the inside of the castle. The tour wasn't available in English, but they did have a printed booklet we used to follow along. I'm sure we missed some good stories in German! I wish smoking wasn't allowed on the grounds. People smoked and it kind of stayed in the courtyard areas. There is a drawbridge! Fabulous views.... More

There is a steep walk up to it. Remember to take your car park ticket as you a free token when buying your ticket. The guide was in German but gave us s booklet in English. We managed and did not miss anything. The views of the Rhein are spectacular. The tour through the royal apartments takes an hour. Very... More

Even though the castle was closed for the winter we walked around the grounds and took pictures of the exterior of the castles. It was still worth the visit.

We saw this castle whilst on an Avalon River Cruise. It looked lovely from the river and we wished that we had seen this before going to Koblenz rather than afterwards. Next time we will take the short taxi ride and explore the interior. It is still great to see as you glide past.

We passed this castle while on our Avalon cruise. We decided after our tour of Koblenz to go back and check this castle out. It is beautiful. Well restored. Only 5 euro to tour, only German speaking tours. About 15 minute cab ride from Koblenz city. Worth going back and taking a closer look.

We biked past here and decided to have a closer look. So glad we did because it just reeked of history. The tour guide had heaps of background detail about the castle, and I was surprised to hear that maintenance is paid for by the state government. To protect the beautiful parquet floors we had to wear special slippers over... More

Located on the outskirts of the city high above the Rhine, stands majestic Schloss Stolzenfels. Built in 1259 to collect river tolls, the castle became the summer residence of King of Prussia. You can visit the castle by walking up the steep hill.

The castle itself, grounds and the views are beautiful. The tour (5 Eur) is very brief and only in German although an English guidebook is available. The walk up to the castle is quite steep and would be challenging for people with mobility problems. There are homes in the immediate vicinity at the bottom of the hill near the road,... More

This castle is one of the few that is in almost perfect condition and restored and I damaged through history. There is a guided tour for $5 euro although it is only in German they give you an English pamphlet to read on the tour. It has many original furnishings and artifacts and is a wonderful view of history. Just... More
