We were very happily surprised by this Museum. It covers all the ages of German History and all the displays are very well presented. The audio-guide we was certainly of great help understanding and appreciating all. This site seems to be rather poorly visited and it is perhaps underappreciated because of other better known sites or attractions in Mainz. For... More

This is a very well curated museum with interesting collections including art. I especially enjoyed the section devoted to Mr Thonet's bentwood furniture. He left his home in Trier and set up an early factory in Mainz before moving on to Munich. The Landesmuseum provides the visitor with a very good survey of Mainz' and the Rhineland-Palatinate's history. It is... More

great pieces of art n history but cannot enjoy much because the staff were following,or i should say ”stalking” the visitors to see what they were doing. This thing never happened to me when visiting other great European museums.

We dropped in this restaurant without much time to spent and did not get to see as much as I would have liked. What I saw I liked a lot. There was a very interesting exhibition on Franz von Sickingen and the decline of the Knights around the time of the Reformation. These knights had been important during the Middle... More

The museum had only a handful of visitors and is very large so I didn't see many others. Lots of art and artifacts in the permanent exhibit. Most of the descriptions are in German only. It's a nice relaxing visit if you enjoy museums. Probably more interesting if you can read the info. I think it was 6.0 € for... More

This is a small museum that covers some of the local history. You can get through the entire building in about 90 minutes. English guides are available via a small walkie for 1 euro.

I appreciated the collection in this museum, but, no doubt, would have appreciated even more had I been able to understand the signage. I rented an audio guide to help me through, but found that a very small number of pieces had explanations available in English. Upon entering each exhibit area, there is a short explanation in English, but it... More

This museum is a little off the tourist beaten track perhaps, so it was almost entirely empty of visitors when I toured it. (There were more security guards than visitors!) The art and Roman artifacts are extremely well presented, and the collection, while not overwhelmingly large, has many fine pieces. The guards are a little overbearing--I was yelled at by... More
