Unfortunately the main reason for my visit was to see the Vermeer "Girl reading a letter at an open window", and it was being restored. There were ALOT of warnings prior to buying my ticket though so i can`t complain. They even limit the numbers...More

Place that you should not miss when you are in Dresden. The most famous painting in this collection is Raphael's Sistine Madonna. It is absolutely huge.On the other side of the room is Rembrandt's Prodigal Son. There is an English audio gudie available

This large museum has a number of great masterworks. We were particularly interested in their two Vermeer pieces. Unfortunately one was not on view due to restoration.

We only had an hour to spend here but it was well worth a visit. There were many pictures we had previously only seen in reproduction, they were well displayed and annotated and the gallery was not too crowded so we could see the pictures...More

The Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister is a large gallery of paintings by many of the old masters. Give yourself plenty of time, to see all that is here.

Excellent collection of art from several different periods. Enough to keep you enthralled for at least a long afternoon. Parts of the gallery are undergoing restoration until 2018, but the amount that is still being shown is well worth the visit (I mean the Sistene...More

You have good taste. The girl is reading, definitly, she is holding the letter with two hands and the letter is probably from her lover.
