Once the private garden of the Count of Bruehl, this large open plaza offers the city's best view of the River Elbe. Under the terrace are trenches, battlements and other remnants of the city's original fortifications.

I can't imagine how lovely this view would be if it was warm and trees were blooming. In December with rain and snow coming down, it was spectacular. The views of the river and the rest of the buildings are amazing.

Overall Dresden definitely deserves a full day. It just oozes the kind of charm that travellers like me succumb too. Charming walks. Great places to eat at. This terrace flanking the river, is a great place to spend time. Very relaxing and very romantic.

A fine stroll along an elevated walkway adjacent to the Elbe. Interesting boats moored nearby; some are paddle-boats while others are permanently moored restaurants.

This terrace gives excellent views over the Elbe river, the Augustusbrucke, the main buildings of the Altstadt and across the river to the Neuestadt. A nice stroll,,with shady trees, lots of places to sit and watch the passing parade, cafes, bars etc.

Great meeting point, people watching, or just sit on the stairs and rest from all the site seeing. Cute little bars and restaurant all around.

With a number of benches looking on across the river and a couple of very reasonable restaurants, a stroll along it is a must at sunset.

A beautiful and fun walking boardwalk (not recommended in the winter due to extreme cold), lined with restaurants and cafes, food stands.
