The "wondrous" aspect of this bridge that spans the Elbe is its construction. It is one of the first steel suspension bridges in the world requiring no supporting piers in the water.

Don't get to excited. Its just a bridge. It is beautiful but its not Prague like views on one side or the other.

We saw this from the steam boat, with commentary from the guide. I'm not sure it's worth a special trip out to see it.

In an area where most bridges are made of stone or concrete the steel bridge is different. It has a nice walkway and easy to cross the river. Not really much to see except that the bridge is old and was not bombed during WW2.

They strongly suggested me to visit the bridge and the area around. I went there a morning and I walked around. It was ok, but I do not consider it as a really attractive place of Dresden.

Our "Elbe Princess" had no problems passing under this bridge. The colour was a change from the other Dresden bridges.

Certainly worth a visit in terms of engineering history and aesthetics. It is best seen from the Elbe.

It is one of the beautifulest bridges of Dresden, even though it is not one of the oldest. On both pathways (one gets renewed) you can have amazing views. Also crossing the bridge and going up by the Schwebebahn, the Standseilbahn or by foot you...More

We passed under this bridge while on a paddle steamer cruise and it is awesome. The oldest steel bridge in the world according to the guide. It is old school design and no harm in that as it shows what work went into constructing it...More

This bridge is an all metal structure that spans the Elbe from Schillerplatz to Grundstrasse. We accessed it on the Hop on Hop Off city Bus tour, but you can use public transportation too. The area on both sides is full off stores and especially...More

This is quite an engineering feat of construction and it also survived the second world war. You can get to it by the hop on hop off buses or public transport.
