This is not one of the places I was planning to visit during my stay in Dresden. By just a coincident and boredom we crossed the river and found this. First it was some boring DDR buildings with lame stores, but behind those shopping streets there was a area of the part with many beautiful 18- and 19-century buildings. Including... More

A hipster counterpart to the old city on the opposite side of Elbe. Ethnic eateries, hipster shops and funky bars abound.

That Statesman decided to merge the town called Alten Dresden with the city of Dresden located on the other river bank. Both parts... More

Neustadt is where you go for a chilled beer and a burger in one of the best gardens or a taste of international cuisine in one of the many Asian or European restaurants. There are a lot of cool, hipster or trendy people milling around and the cafes and bars reflect this. Don't be put off by the graffiti and... More

A nice new city. Lots of place for shopping. Well kept gardens and clean streets. After you finished the old town, you must see here too.

This section of town is to the north of the Elbe via the Augustusbrücke and has a lot of interesting areas to stroll: the gardens of Japanisches Palais along the River attract numerous locals and tourists on weekends; Hauptstraße and Königstraße are both lined with beautiful buildings, as well as restaurants and shops; Neustädter Markthalle sells coffee, produce, meats, and... Strolling through the Neustadt at night is great. The area is lively with restaurants, pubs, and theatres. Also there is a black and white photobox that I didn't try, but you should.

Neustadt is a big area. There is mall with shops (inner) and the outer Neustadt is filled with hip eateries and smaller boutiques. We spent an entire day exploring the area. This also included the Stadtteilfest Bunte Republik - one of the largest cultural celebrations - which just happened to be going on when we were there. In this case,... More
