Quite traditional German Christmas Market - and there us nothing wrong with that. The quality of the stalls is generally good with less of the tat that one often finds. Prices are good too. The market is concentrated around the Market square, which is helpful - you don't have to go searching for bits of it.

Quite honestly, I've seen more attractive market squares, but a good place for a sit down and a bite. As in most German cities, I was amazed at the amount of reconstruction that has taken place after the twin tragedies of the war and East German neglect.

For some people the Theaterplatz is the center of Weimar, others would say it is Park an der Ilm, as much as I love those places, the Markt is my favorite part of the town. There is always something happening there, sometimes theater outside the Tourist Information office, sometimes there are markets happening in the square. If you are there... More

It's a pretty ordinary market square, I don't know why it's rated so high. Not bad, but not exceptional.

As it is located in the city center of weimar therefore, it is nice to see there especially in summer when there are seats outside and you can have a coffee and look to a historical place which some pictures of WWII was taken from there. It has a key access to schillerhaus, goethehaus, musikhochschule, bauhaus-uni and most of the... More

A nice little square with some stalls. Bratwurst in a brotchen from a stall €2.50 ; very nice. Guided tour was being taken around the various buildings and had a lot to say outside the Elephant Hotel. The main tourism office is here so collect your leaflets etc. Also a ladies clothes shop which has a cat which sits on... More

The market place had been taken over by the Christmas market when we were there so a bit difficult to fully appreciate the old and attractive facades , lovingly restored after war damage and GDR neglect . Tourist information is situated here .
