From the locations of the Weimar card, this palace is worth recommending. The audio-guide stories make it a vivid and empathic place with stories you can recognize in the old, small and beautiful palace.

This is the home of the dowager duchess and it is very much as it was when she lived here. The audio guide in English is necessary. It is free with the Weimar card and well worth a visit.

Compared to most palaces I've toured throughout Europe this is one of the smallest, but also one of the most charming and worth a visit. Although far from being opulent, there is a subtle elegance and intimacy to the palace which brings the life and...More

This is a great place for those who want to escape Weimar tourist crowds that concentrate in the Anna Amalia library and in the Goethe's House. This small neoclassical residence offers charming insight into the lives of aristocracy in the late 18th and the beginning...More

We never expected to be offered such a graceful walk through a byegone time. The Wittumspalais makes life of the time of Goethe and Schiller and all the nobility in Weimar awake.

Not sure what I expected to see in here. The palace was lovely but is not what you would consider a traditional 'palace'. It's really a 3 storey house, and there is at least one room which is not decorated as per original (the audio...More

This evocative house museum shows the life lived by one of Weimar's important patrons and thinkers. This was the place where Anna Amelia, ex-Regent, was able to set up her salon and meet with Goethe, Schiller, and many other German intellectuals and artists. The audio...More

Intimate and insightful, a very well executed rendering of what it must have been like in the days of Duchess Anna Amalia and just how influential and talented a woman she was. Worth the EUR5 per person entrance fee, but regret that this did not...More
