I was on August with my girlfriend and was incredible. Really quiet area and the landscape is amazing. You can find nature, relax and enjoying. The local restaurants are reall5 cheap and they have and excellent food. One of the best beaches of the south

Beautiful place, quiet at this time of the year- Feb 17. Beautiful walks. Friendly people. Long bus ride from Almeria but regular and cheap.

The town of Nijar is situated to the north west of the Cabo de Gata Nijar Natural Park, and to the east of Almeria, and is easy to find. We had read that this is the area to buy artisan pottery and also locally woven rugs, so we took the 30 minute drive from San Jose. As this is winter,... More

This is a special and precious area of Spain that is a real demand. From the gold mines at Rodaquilar to hunting for garnets near Nicaragua, there is plenty to do and see. The savings are a superb site for flamingoes and the rare Trumpeter Finch can be seen by the lighthouse at the Cabo. A great place for washing... More

This Park is so beautiful! Great for a hike, although it was rather difficult to find out where the hike started.

I visited the unique open air art village of Rodalquilar out of season. Nothing to do but stroll and admire the art work on the walls of the buildings and homes. This is an abandoned gold mining village. They have adorned the abandoned workers' houses with murals.

We cycled into the park and toured around as best we could. Varied roads used by walkers, cyclists and cars. Lots of wild flowers, birds, and super deserted (at the time) beaches

Don't expect the usual "postcard village", with geraniums, etc… Nijar is the real thing: clothes hanging out to dry in the sun on the old Plaza del Mercado, small moorish white houses, a very beautiful Mudejar church, … and a spectacular mountainous landscape all around. The Casco Antiguo, the old town spreads, around a hill with a moorish tower on... More

If you get fed up being by the sea...head to the hills - wonderful views of the countryside and sea - worthwhile drive for a change of scenery

We have driven to and in the park and it was wonderful - in November almost nobody was there - so mother nature was just wonderful to immerse in. The small white villages were pretty empty and closed down; including many restaurants
