- manxseasiderRamsey, United Kingdom406 contributionsBeautiful area. Definitely worth visitingMy wife and I caught the bus to Estepona when staying along the coast in Puerto Banus. We spent a few hours in the old town and found it utterly charming. Very pedestrian-friendly, with colourful floral displays and full of elegant squares and narrow streets. Plenty of eating places and bars to take in the atmosphere whilst enjoying a glass of sangria and a snack.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 June 2024
- Pernille ICopenhagen, Denmark7,138 contributionsIt's all cute everywhereThe old old town centre is like taken from a typical Spanish village fairy tale - white walls, flowerpots of different colours, olive trees, palm trees and so on. But then there are the ceramic-painted street signs with a row of lemons all around, and here through it a nice fountain. You can still see a Spanish woman passing by with her rag tied on her head and you can feel that life - the real life - lives here within its walls. It's more authentic to me than other white villages around here.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 17 September 2024
- KJTravel1Glasgow, United Kingdom63 contributionsBeautiful to walk in Old Town EsteponaBeautiful town with meandering g walks through flower adorned narrow lanes. Quiet (apart from a few builders hard at work) Loads of tavernas to wet your whistle in the heat and lots of lovely restaurants to cater for anyone’s needs. A lovely place to visit.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2024
- Turista-InglesaEstepona, Spain46,042 contributionsThe prettiest town you'll ever see!A fabulous experience! Practically traffic free, and certainly no parked cars to hide the beauty of these charming streets, it's a wonderful place to stroll. What makes it especially good is that it's not filled with shops and businesses looking for the tourist trade, but pretty homes for ordinary families. Although goodness knows where they park their cars! You really get a good feel of the old times here, so peaceful and pretty. It's also got more of these pretty streets, without the hassle of trinket and souvenir shops and parked cars, than in Marbella, Mojácar or Frigiliana, which makes it Top of the Towns in my view, you can walk and walk and never run out of lovely corners!Visited October 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 October 2024

My wife and I love this old town centre, it is still the home of many Spanish people and is the heart of the community. Plenty of bars and restaurants, set in fantastic gardens.
The tourist Centre always has something of interest to see, this time a painting exhibition.
It is a place not to be missed.

Unlike most ‘ old towns ‘ that you may have seen, the historic centre of Estepona is stunning. There has obviously been some money put into restoring and pedestrianising the streets. And the flowers! Flowers everywhere. Each street has pots of flowers outside each house, often in a particular colour for that street. The restriction of traffic also means that the streets are easily walkable.
Don’t miss the wall murals here, and around the rest of town. And at 3 euros, the Orchidarium is a real bargain. If you’re in town for several months, try to go more than once, as you’ll see a change in what’s flowering.
There are several lovely squares in the old town. All in all, there seems to be a surprise round every corner.

There is something magical about Estepona. Much calmer and less pretentious than Marbella and the old town is simply delightful. Street after street of beautiful views. Each street has it’s own coloured flower pots. Simply turn the corner into another street and enjoy the walk. Of course there are many shops and restaurants nearby but the old town just makes you feel relaxed. We park in the Paseo Maritimo Underground by the seafront.

Although not as picturesque as Marbella, Estepona has an enthusiasm and warmth about it that its large neighbour lacks. The older part of the town has some charming corners with cobbled alleyways and two delightful squares, the Plaza Las Flores and the Plaza Arce. From May onward's the towns bullfighting season gets underway in a modern ring to the west of the town centre. The building has now taken on additional roles has the home of four museums and is well worth a visit.
On our frequent road trips through Andalucia my wife and I always stay a night in Estapona,it's well worth a visit

We have enjoyed its streets from the inside while staying in the large and beautiful historic center. Ideal to disconnect. Multiple walks with countless especially beautiful corners to photograph... Pots, flowers, plants, streetlights, windows, doors, white, color... One of the most beautiful neighborhoods in which we have been full of local life... We have great memories of the neighborhood, its places and its people... From the third to the fourth line of the beach, white houses, low, old, very cozy... We will return

Estepona is a great little town and on every visit gets better and better. The lovely old streets festooned with different coloured pots and flowers are absolutely delightful and has everything you could want in a holiday town. Lots of cafes and interesting shops, but have to say that the only "fly in the ointment" is the lack of parking. Although to clarify this, there are large underground car parks, but I feel these are prohibitively expensive.I do feel that the local Ayuntamento need to seriously consider reducing the cost to encourage more people to park there!

Warm, welcoming and friendly, but also breathtakingly beautiful! A lot less busy than Marbella, so you have a lower chance of getting into a tourist trap. Especially beautiful in the evening, when you can see the locals getting together and going about their business. Absolutely loved the town, a true gem of the Costa del Sol ❤️

Estepona has for sure invested a lot in the last years (still doing) to refurbish its historical part. Everything is nice, in order, very clean. The narrow streets of the center are perfect maintained and it is a pleasure to stroll.

City without any charm especially when arriving from Marbella or Ronda. We came on a Monday and the historic center was completely deserted! The port is of no interest. The walk along a large beach is very bland. The town hall building is beautiful, that’s all! In short we left disappointed

Wat is qua levendigheid het verschil tussen de haven en het oude centrum?

Haven vind ik persoonlijk minder leuk, vooral veel restaurantjes. Het oude centrum is mooier, wandelen door smalle straatjes met uiteraard ook restaurants.

How far from the centric historic is the tourist office?
Written 1 October 2018
The tourism office is in centro Estepona, so really should be a part of your pleasant walking tour of Estepona. They have guide maps for no less than 2 walking tours.

Can anyone recommend a hotel that's close to the town and also close to the beach please?
Written 17 May 2018
Hotel cuidad is one and also apartments casa de la borrega right in the old town
Written 9 June 2018
Just wondering if you took a specific tour of the murals and statues, and if so can I ha e the name:)
Written 22 February 2018
You can get a ruta de murals map in the tourist office in plaza las Flores. However you can see quite a few just going up Calle terraza. One just off in Calle malaga is specially for those with poor sight and is at low level with Braille descriptions then further up on the left hand side the corner just after la palma tapas restaurant turn left into la járdin de las poetas, in that lovely little square you will see a large mural and busts of lots of poets. Retrace your steps back to Calle terrace look up and to the sides and you will spot more murals. Go right to the top of Calle terraza after the orchidrium and you will reach the spectacular fisherman over 6 blocks. Best seen from the left hand side where there is an arrow on the floor.

I will be staying at Marriott's Playa Andeluza. I will not be renting a vehicle. Is it easy to take the bus to Malaga? Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks.
Written 26 April 2017
I would like to stay in the old town however parking seems to be limited is there any car parks who have overnight parking for 3 days. I'm visiting in September. Thanks for any replies.
Written 23 April 2017
In september when crowds lessen you will probably be able to park for a 1euro per day charity donation in the central temporary parking area.(tarmaced with lines) . Just off the front on avd juan Carlos. There are plenty of areas on the street with no lines surrounding the old town. Easy walk (5 min) into heart of old town.
And the underground sea front car parks have deals with some hotels. Ask at your hotel.
