Very tranquil square to just sit and relax, enjoy the sunshine. Birth place of Picasso, if that floats your boat. For me it was the architecture, tapas bars and free entertainment. In May all the Jacaranda trees are in full bloom, massive expanse of purple...More

Plaza de la Merced was a favourite place to grab a drink or some tapas throughout the day and night. There were a few street performers playing instruments which added to the atmosphere. Beware of your bags though as I would have had mine stolen...More

This square is full of restaurants, affordable prices, and close to central Malaga. Very nice to go there for dinner, when is not too hot.

Yes - try Restaurante Vegetariano Cañadú, Plaza de la Merced, 21 Málaga - (+34) 952 60 27 19. Very good reviews. It's on the opposite side of the Plaza to Picasso's house. Enjoy.
