We did have some nice hikes around the mountains exploring the rocks, and watching mountain goats. Very impressive scenery and relaxing strolls that allow you to connect to yourself.

Visited the mountains during a trip in April / May 2016. Ample parking, and a short walk up to the Telerifico to the top. We arrived on a very warm spring day with clear views expected, and the top didn't disappoint. We had a beer...More

Visited in October 2016. This place is an absolute must if you enjoy mountain walking. We completed the Fuente De walk and the Cares Gorge walks both ways in perfect weather and I honestly think it has to be some of the most stunning walking...More

On a motorbiking holiday down into Portugal we were originally only passing through this area on the way back to Santander for the ferry home. What an amazing party of the world this is! Such beautiful scenery, smooth roads with awesome bends, twists and turns...More

The whole area is incredibly beautiful, easy to get to and unspoilt. The funicular is a useful short cut to some good walks, but little else. It is ridiculously expensive too!

The Picos de Europa are one of Europe, and Spain's lesser known gems. They are spectacularly beautiful, and totally different from any mountain range in my own country of Scotland. The Picos are higher than the Highlands and more jagged. The drives through the gorge...More

This area is my favourite in the whole of Europe. We are touring by motorbike. The roads are in brilliant condition. Crash barriers are well maintained too. Hardly any traffic on the roads, those that are there, are respectful to other drivers and motorcyclists. The...More

Potes is by far the biggest town and has the best facilities. I'm not sure about the north of the park. Sorry and apologies for the delay in answering.
Hi all, I'm headed to Picos De Europa in August, I was wondering how are the road conditions like as I will be driving solo for 3 days around the park, not much of a hiker. I will be driving from Santander to Potes,Covadonga and the area nearby and also to the Cares Gorge. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi. We are planning on visiting the area in September 2016. Have flights booked from UK to Bilbao. Will we need to book hotels in advance or will we be able to turn up and get a room?

It depends when it September. At the end, the area is fairly quiet but at the start there will still be lots of people around. You could probably turn up and look for a room even in early September but if you have driven a... More
