Although a city with a long history there is not really much to see in Oviedo although it is a nice city with the usual Spanish nightlife. The cathedral is however well worth a visit. The audio guide in English is clear and walks you round what is a classic medieval Spanish cathedral with important ties to the birth of... More

I tried to visit twice on a Saturday afternoon today, at 2pm and 5pm. Surely the cathedral in this city could be kept open through the day? I know that Spanish churches are pretty much museums these days, but very occasionally people do want to visit for the purpose for which it is built - pilgrimage and prayer. The fine... More

A beautiful cathedral both from the outside as from within. A large open plaza in front, but squeezed in between historic buildings.

Majestic cathedral, beautifully maintained and an impressive example of the deep faith the locals have in Jesus.

We were in Oviedo on a Monday and lots of attractions were closed (check)but fortunately not the Cathedral. I am not religious but love the architecture and history and this cathedral delights. You enter as if entering any cathedral, looking at the vaulted ceilings, stained glass etc, but this cathedral turns into a museum, a brilliant museum and entry includes... More

It is well worth a visit to the cathedral if you are in Oviedo. We were so lucky to visit in Holy Week as that it is the only time that the holy chamber(camara Santa) is open to the public. We saw the holy shroud that is reported to be the cloth used in Jesus' face after the crucifixion. This... More

Very nice historical. People and shops here are also very nice. I love the small town atmosphere. You can spend 1/2 day and you will cover all historical places in this small town.

Me and my Grandfather came to the Catedral as although we are not especially religious, we knew that Spain was known for beautiful architecture such as Cathedrals. In this respect, the cathedral did not disappoint. It was very tall and had beautiful elements inside, from the alter to religious pieces such as the Holy Ark. To enter the cathedral, it... More
