Well laid out with some very interesting exhibits.

First you need to know all the exhibits are only described in Basque and Spanish but don't let this deter you. There is a leaflet with some information in English but basically... read more

A very interesting museum delving into ancient times. Could have used a little more detailed history on medieval period but I suspect it is not an overly endowed or well funded museum so I give kudos to the job they are doing.

A friendly small museum in a lovely building with lots of character and interesting displays. Really nice place to learn more about Bilbao and Basqueland.

Worthwhile spending time at this museum which is dedicated to Basque evolution. Stunning displays of life in earlier periods which give a very good idea of different lifestyles and just how tough it was. The piece de resistance is undoubtedly the Iron Age wild boar carved from stone. A life size carving which is quite awesome given it's age.

A bit of a mismash, but really good information on the key industries driving Basque culture over the years. Herding, Fishing, and Smithing sections gave great insight into the daily life of people in the area. It wasn't easy.

For me was quite interesting and a way to get in touch with my Basque roots. You can get a good feeling of Basque culture and history, well presented exhibits. It is located in the Old Town near ‘siete calles’ where there are a lot of places with good pintxos !!. ("pinchos" consist of small slices of bread upon which... More

You get a real feel for Basque history and culture in this interesting and inexpensive museum. It's easy to find in the Old Town, and is free on Thursdays. Sells CDs of traditional music. Great selection of posters for festivals, and the giants will amaze both adults and children alike.

First you need to know all the exhibits are only described in Basque and Spanish but don't let this deter you. There is a leaflet with some information in English but basically just go and look at the exhibits and you will not be disappointed. If you go during July/ September 2016 there is a really fun exhibit of giants... More
