This museum of Basque history and culture was a highlight of my short visit to San Sebastian-Donostia. From Paleolithic artifacts to the Sert canvases, the exhibit design and commentary really stand out. I ended up spending more time than I'd planned. Don't miss it!

We went here at the suggestion of the hotel since it was raining the day we arrived. It was a great idea, very interesting and informative. Lots of great exhibits and history of the Basque area. If you have a chance visit here!

Well laid out museum in a very nice building. Get the audio guide to walk around with as it explains a lot. And although there is a bit of signage in English, there isn't much. This is a good place to spend an hour or two.

I saw one of the best exhibits I've ever seen here, on peace treaties. The links that curators had made between history and art across the world were fascinating. Basque culture was incorporated too. I would've liked to see more of the museum but an old guy was hitting on me and I got uncomfortable and left lol... However I... More

Beautifully converted Dominican convent and church the most noticeable feature of which as you approach is the flowers and plants growing out of the holes cut into the contemporary wall, a bit reminiscent of Koon's Puppy. The permanent exhibition (on the first floor around the cloister) sets out the history and culture of the region but the order of some... More

An interesting enough visit. The museum has displays about Basque history and the building itself is very interesting. Not all the information is available in English but the audio guides provide a basic coverage which is enough. If you are staying for a week you should probably museum in for a look.
