We visited the Cathedral just after we landed in Palma. This was around 2 pm and there were almost no people at that point. No que at the entrance. We decided to visit the Terrazas and it is well worth it. The view from up there is very beautiful, but the stairs to the Terrazas can be a bit hard to climb. I believe most healthy people should have no problem getting up there. When up you have to walk on a narrow bridge, where it is a bit high to look down. Although it might look scary, it is perfectly safe.
The cathedral is beautiful inside as well as outside. It is worth a visit and it should not take more than 2 hours.

This walkway is just below the cathedral and so if you have just been inside to marvel at the interior of the cathedral why not take a stroll along the terrace? There are nice views to be had out over the marina and the Parc de la Mar which is just below. The walk is especially lovely at sunset.

Want to raise your BPM and see amazing views ? This is the place for you my friend. Spectacular views of the city and seascape. Nice to look down on the next door palace and wonder who bathed in its rooftop pools. Stunning.

Absolutely gorgeous building inside and out, the stain glass windows are absolutely beautiful. We lit a candle for my grandpa and I thought that’s was such a nice thing to have for people to be able to light a candle for someone. Would 100% recommend 10/10 ❤️

What a find, meant to visit Malta on Cruise but due to bad weather we diverted to here! Was fantastic and we spent a lovely afternoon around the Cathedral and Old town. Weather, food, people and views were outstanding

We met our guide at the main entrance to the Cathedral. From there we started ascending up one of the spiral staircases. We stop along the way up to view different rooms. One being under the bells. Once out on the terrace we saw great views of the Port and the surrounding areas.
Guide speaks mainly in Spanish however she was also able to answer questions in English very well.
Totally recommend the tour. You must book online first. Times do tend to fill up.
We did not enter the main hall of the Cathedral during the tour.

Contemplate the bay of Palma and the city from a birds-eye view.
It's a delightful experience.
Proof of age will be requested before entering.
To gain access to the terrace you'll be climbing 215 steps.
Not recommended for disabled or persons who have a fear of heights.
Requires booking in advance. Only 25 persons are allowed at a time so it's very busy. Residents on the island get it free. Make sure to book in advance.
An experience you won't forget.
Prices can vary if you seek other than the official page. I leave it to your own discretion...
By the way, August is very hot up there :)

Our accommodations manager told us about the opportunity to take a tour of the cathedral terraces. It turned out to be the experience of a lifetime, and one of the highlights of our trip. For 12 euros per person we climbed up a total of 208 stairs to reach the top of the cathedral. This ascent is done in stages as it’s quite the climb. I won’t give away all the secrets but if you can, look this opportunity up online and take advantage. You do have to book in advance and it’s weather dependent.

Hallo!

Cordialement.

wondering how or where to get terrace tickets and bell tower tickets? thanks!
Written 10 May 2019
The Terrace beside the Cathedral is a public area free to all but with great views and a start point for carriage rides. I wouldn't know about bell towers tickets - I don't do heights! However, I guess they're available from the Cathedral ticket office to the left when you're looking at the West front. Enjoy.

Is this site easily reachable on foot from the cruise port exit ? We have no problem walking a bit but sometimes promising sites to visit on a cruise stop are quite far away but not revealed as such!
Written 9 December 2018
I believe the port stops will bus you into the Center of the town and from there this is easily accessible. I believe it’s one of the highlights of cruises as we met several people who were from a cruise. Hope this helps.

Are the guided tours of the rooftop terrace in english?
Written 8 September 2018
Yes our tour was in English. Be prepared for it to be quite detailed
Written 9 September 2018
Can you visit the terraces by yourself, not with a guided tour?
Written 20 July 2018
Yes you can, you have to pay the ticket and inside you can take a mini guide in english.

Sulla terrazza certo, e’ esterna alla cattedrale!
Written 25 July 2018
How do you get to the terrace? I'm a bit confused as to whether it's a public space with cafes around it or just a viewpoint from the top of the cathedral.
Written 13 September 2017
It's a viewpoint from the top of the cathedral. You can get ticket into cathedral web.
Written 13 September 2017
Is there an elevator to the terrace? If not, how many stairs are involved?
Written 23 May 2017
208 stairs up a winding, steep staircase. You go up in stages but this tour would not be ideal for those with physical challenges.
