About
The San Francisco de Palma church is a good example of Gothic architecture. It was built between the 13th and 14th centuries and holds the tomb of Ramón Llull. On the other hand, the façade was rebuilt in Baroque style throughout the 17th century. The most important element is the Gothic cloister, which is unique in the Kingdom of Aragon.

Beautiful Basilical with a very peaceful vibe. What make it even special is Ms Bayone at the ticket office. She is a real sunshine!. You can purchase a combine ticket to the five major sites of Palma for only 18€.

This is a beautiful place to visit and take in what makes Palma so wonderful. It costs 5 euros to enter and there is no long lines etc. the plaza is beautiful as well as the basilica. Recommend visiting basilica.

A beautiful place which should be a haven of peace and tranquillity.
Unfortunately on the occasion of our visit, a week ago, a group of some 30/40 early teenage schoolchildren boys and girls,(wearing light blue tops grey trousers /tartan skirts) were running riot through the cloisters, disregarding the barriers and going into the upper levels to throw balls down, climbing over walls ,playing cards in the cloisters etc.
Ruined our visit and not a good advert for their school !Not a teacher to be seen!

The St. Francisco Basilica is located in a maze of narrow streets of old town Palma. It's in a residential area, away from main tourist spots. We were wandering the streets with almost no one around which gave a serene atmosphere when we came upon this beautiful Church.
The interiors are likewise impressive as the Palma Cathedral (smaller of course) and the cloister grounds beautiful.
The only reason I deduct one star are entry fees. It was 7 Euros if I remember correctly, and is such for every Church in old town which I don't find appropriate.

This is my second trip to Palma & not sure why I did not visit before....not sure why it is not promoted more. Beautiful baroque interior, and cloisters - very interesting information card given to us by the super helpful ticket seller. Well worth the modest entry fee. More impressed with this than the cathedral. So atmospheric, less tourists and very interesting history.

Such a beautiful space - both the cloisters and the main basilica. Raining when I visited so the cloisters were a welcome shelter. But also v peaceful. Left wondering how many prayers had been uttered walking the lap I did. Then the main church is amazing. There were only 3 others in the building when I was there so it was v peaceful. I was able to sing Amazing grace - amazing acoustics in there. Just lovely.

I don’t know how this is only the 11th “Thing to see in Palma” way after the Aquarium and Mercat de l’Olivar on TripAdvisor.

The church is amazing and the cloister and the garden within is wonderful. Very clean and quiet. Skip others and go see this place, you will agree this should be higher up on the list.

There are a remarkable number of magnificent old churches in Palma and this is a classic one. you could nearly walk past it without realising it. It's got a tall main entrance but is discreet, with a statue outside it. Inside, the Church is modest and not overpowering, but is so tranquil. On weekdays you could easily be in here on your own. It's about 5 minutes walk fro the city centre and the Cathedral, and is set on a quiet plaza.

It costs three euros per person to get in to view the incredible 12th century church and the patio area of the cloisters. That's all that you see. Bring a flashlight because it's dark inside. Without a flashlight this placed is not worth going into.

Also, the cashier, typical of the area, will want to incorrectly make change and steal your money. Watch exactly what you give her and have a witness with you as she makes change, then expect it to be wrong and correct her.

We were advised to visit this place by our hotel reception as it was one minute walk from where we were staying. From the outside it looks impressive, but nothing can prepare you. For only 3 Euros you can wander around.....at first we walked around the tranquil courtyard with the orange and lemon trees, and felt the peace that was so apparent everywhere around us.
Then we walked inside the cathedral and were simply blown away by the size and sheer effect it had on us. This is like a smaller version of the Vatican and just not what you expect from the outside. It's SO quiet inside and so awe inspiring. Just stunning. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. No crowds, no queues, and really incredible architecture.
