    Nice architecture
A cheap tourist attraction. €7 each so worth a look. It is a tad sparse and there are only a few explanation cards so it is difficult to really appreciate the history of the place. Quicker to buy online and skip the queue. There is a beautiful little chapel and wonderful views to the harbour. Younger visitors may get board. Little military exhibits other than one random mannequin early on in the walk around. Many huge tapestries on the walls.

Beautiful architecture and fabulous views of harbour
A beautiful and interesting palace with some great views across the sea. Despite being to Palma multiple times this was my first visit here and think it is one of the most interesting places to visit in Palma with beautiful architecture. It is cheap to visit and only takes around an hour so can be squeezed into any itinerary.

    Royal Residence
This is pretty fabulous and imposing, rising up over the waterfront. Very visible. And it should be as it is an old royal palace and still used as a residence of the Spanish royal family. Wouldn't you like to live here? We had a quick group tour inside and it was very decorated. The tour was part of an overall tour of some of the interiors of the major buildings in town. This one was very impressive. Try to get inside if you can. It was definitely worthwhile for our short visit.

    Not that great.
The palace from outside is very beautiful. As far as royal palaces i was not impressed. Nothing like Windsor Castle or royal palace in madrid. I was dissappointed to be honest. You wont find any beautifully decorated rooms. Also for audio guild you have to pay extra. I ferl it should be included for free in the price.

    UNIQUE BUILDING
A amazingly well preserved 14th century regal fortress with fragrant pine woods, a fascinating museum and superb views over Palma Bay. The castle is a Gothic styled building sited on a hill close to the Cathedral and near the city commercial centre itself. Its perfectly formed round design with its three turrets, makes this castle unique in Spain and it is well worth a visit.

    Nice palace.
Old palace, showing many changes over the years. Nice walk around to look at interesting objects and rooms. As you walk around or go out onto the veranda there is a beautiful view of the harbour, you can also get a good look at the castle on the hill.

Worthwhile visit and important part of Majircan history
The Palace provides an interesting insight into the history of Majorca. It's bigger than I anticipated with a good number of rooms open to the public. Explanatory text is available in each room. You can get an audio guide for more detailed info but I though that was a bit pricey at 5 euro on top of the 8 euro entry fee. Anyways the room text was sufficient for me. Given rhe age and history there is very little in the way of period furnishings but there are quite a few paintings and tapestries and some of ceilings have been restored. There are nice views across the water. I enjoyed my visit and was glad I made the time in my itinerary.

Tried to visit here on a Wednesday afternoon when the official website clearly states it is feee entry from 15.00. Turns out it’s only free for EU citizens on production of ID. We were told quite rudely that this was “because of brexit”. Needless to say we didn’t waste our money to go in. I have no problems with their entry regulations. That’s up to them. But at least they should do the decent thing and put this on their website to save people going there under false pretences. Management might also want to remind their staff that not everyone in the UK voted to leave the EU!!

Beautiful palace with lovely views from the terraces. Lots of tapestries and some paintings but it is the architecture which was of most interest. The normal entrance ticket is 7 euros but it is free after 3pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays with an EU passport.

We arrived to the RoyalPalace after visiting the Cathedral, quite sensible, as they are next to each other :-)
After the security check, you enter to the oldest parts of the building. From hall to hall you may feel history in the walls, as it is usual in such castles. Very little information is placed, you shall bring a travellers' booklet or use wikipedia.
What we were surprised at, is that there are no furniture items in the halls, they are completely empty, only carpetries and paintings are hanging on the walls.
We adored the huge balcony from which we could see the whole port, with the ugly liners :-(, the royal garden, the street, part of the city.
One room was filled with furniture, flags were in it, so we assumed this is where the king sometimes meets his Mallorcan citizens on auditions...
Inner garden is spacious, guards/soldiers were at every corner.
We missed the Arabian history of the building, it was not represented anywere.

Right next to the Cathedral, this is another great place to visit. Not very busy when we were there, and full of history. Interesting ceilings, beautiful tapestries and views out over the harbour from both some of the rooms and the outside terrace. OK there’s little in the way of furniture but that doesn’t detract. Quite good value too, but its a working Royal Palace, the King has a study here so expect to have your bags scanned and quite a lot of security around. Personally I wouldn’t bother with the audio guide, it costs extra and I find it a bit of a distraction, there’s enough information on the room guide cards. Also make sure to visit the Chapel. One for the lover of both history and architecture.

History comes alive behind the walls of the Palau de l'Almudaina! Beautifully preserved and maintained, the interior will transport you to a bygone era. A rich and beautiful exhibition, lavish and large halls, and the church in the courtyard will impress you with its beautiful stained glass and ancient relics of a saint.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 for rating was that there was a lack of information on exactly what visitors were looking at. There are only small information boards with brief description about what room we are in - for example: "this is the guards room. The guards are guarding the King... ". Visitors don't know whose portrait they are looking at and who was the artist who drew the portrait, if it is the original painting or a replica.. they don't know what historical event a particular composition represents and so on. With this, the artifacts become a kind of pictures that are beautiful to look at but do not carry any historical information for the visitor. It would be good to consider enriching the scientific description of the exhibition.

Nevertheless, I recommend this place!

The Almudaina is a must-see in Palma. The palace is a marvel of architecture, and its high-ceilinged rooms with elaborate wall decor and stately staircases are themselves worth the trip. The central courtyard features lion statues who sit waiting for visitors to admire them, and the interior of the palace offers room after room of history and stateliness. It’s a great visit for folks interested in the history of the island, of Spain, and of Europe, as well as for architecture buffs and those interested in stunning views and lush gardens.

We visited here on spec having just come out of the Cathedral which is just opposite. We visited on a Wednesday when it is free for EU citizens after 3pm. However the guide advised us to pay and go in earlier if we wanted to avoid the crowds. Good advice. Worth seeing and the views of the port of Palma from the windows are magnificent.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina, who is located just next door to the Cathedral is dating back to the 14th century, is the official residence of the King and Queen during their stays in Mallorca. Together with the Cathedral of Palma it is a landmark of the capital of the Balearic Islands. The palace reflects the artistic styles that have succeeded each other throughout the history of the island. It is managed by the public body of the National Heritage. It recognizes in its walls the history of the islands since the megalithic settlements. This imposing fortress, known at the time of the conquest under the name of Zuda, was rebuilt in the year 1309 by King James II of Aragon, on the model of the Royal Palace of Perpignan. In La Almudaina it had its court, and successively, of the monarchs of the Kingdom of Mallorca, Aragon and Spain. Philip II of Spain passed the Audiencia Real de Tinell and installed the rest of the building of the captaincy general of the islands. The current structure of Almudaina corresponds to the one built in the 14th century, with its different spaces; the palaces of the king and queen, the Chapel of Santa Ana or the bathhouses, are more prominent. Very nice and lovely to visit, and not a que to enter.
