- beckywilkinsonDerby, United Kingdom120 contributionsVery good but expensiveWe really enjoyed our visit. A big range of fish and other animals and the giant wall was very impressive. 4 stars rather than 5 as very expensive for a family for the time you spend there. We were going round quite a bit slower than a lot of guests and still only spent two hours there.Thank you for your review! We are delighted that you were able to enjoy and learn from our animals. Behind their care we have a team of great professionals: caretakers, marine biologists, researchers... Who watch over the health, feeding and care of all the species of Poema del Mar. Thanks to them the animals enjoy ideal conditions that allow us to offer an unique experience. - Dario A3 contributionsGreat time at Poema del MarPoema del Mar offered me a wonderdul experience, it was my very first time that I got the chance to have a look at these beautiful creatures from so close. I have been an animal lover since I was a kid and It still gives me the goosebumps thinking about how I felt when I was there. Highly recommended and I will come back for sure!.Dario, thanks for the great review! We are glad you enjoyed a nice visit and that you learned some amazing facts about our wonderful animals and their welfare. A welfare that is also guaranteed by the professionals of Poema del Mar, in charge of fulfilling all the needs of our different species. In case you come back to the aquarium, do not hesitate to ask about our animals to learn even more about their characteristics or their habitat. Our team will be happy to answer all your questions. - morePEASpleaseDerby, United Kingdom693 contributionsBest aquarium I've ever been toI was a little bit sceptical on whether or not this aquarium would be worth the entry fee, which on first glance is very expensive (we paid 54 euros for 2). However it was completely worth it. It is definitely not one of those places where you're in and out in half an hour. You can easily spend a good few hours here. There is so much to see. The range of sea creatures is amazing. It is very well designed, organised and set out. It flows and I like that! There's no danger of missing anything. Toilets are available at various points along the route too. People of all ages will enjoy it here. Adults were just as mesmerised as the kids were. I took nearly 200 photos on our visit! The giant viewing wall is a good feature and you can sit there for ages watching all the different creatures swimming around you. There are large comfy cushion-type seats scattered around some of the tanks and it's so relaxing watching everything. Another highlight is the 'deep sea' section where you can see sharks swimming around and above you. There are so many photo opportunities to capture the weird and wonderful creatures. I can't think of anything bad to say, which is unlike me! We really enjoyed it here. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks for the great review! - GaryOldham, United Kingdom88 contributionsBuy tickets at arrival or via the main websiteI would of given it 5 stars however there was a slight issue on arrival Having bought my ticket 2 months earlier with jet 2 I stood around for what felt like half an hour afyer a 1 hour travel from playa del ingles. as they couldn't find my ticket. This led to 2 receptionists both searching and eventually opening up another till to deal with the queue that formed behind me, eventually a manager came down and although I couldn't understand what was being said they eventually let me in, But after I got in the tanks were beautiful and clear all the aquatic life seemed very lively and all the staff were incredibly friendly, had a bite to eat at the nemo cafe and got some souvenirs, if it wasn't for the ticket issue I would of rated it 5 starsEvery opinion helps us to improve a little more every day, that's why your feedback is so valuable to us! Unfortunately its beautiful printed guide is very unclear. Due to very slow wi-fi, it was impossible to download aquarium's own mobile guide app. Penne with minced meat in the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced!Thank you very much for sending us your feedback about your visit to Poema del Mar! The aquarium was not crowded (no cruise ship in the harbour). You pay at a window outside (or online, but there seems to be no savings to do it online) 27 Euros per adult, so it is not inexpensive. Once inside, you can download their wifi (probably a good idea due to the thick concrete walls) and they have an app that is supposed to: track your movements; knowing where you are giving you additional info and narrative in English; additional photos and a kids game (maybe a hunt to see if the kids find all the stuff?) This is free, included in the admission which is good since it was frail; didn't always know where you were; and the kids game never seemed to be working. Nevertheless, there are digital touch screen information boards at each exhibit in 3 languages, giving you information. The exhibits themselves were amazing. A North American tourists we saw fish from Africa, Asia and Australia that we had never seen before. Spotless clean tanks. Interesting layout as you walk along a route through the adjoining tanks. Well done and worth the price of admission. Two restaurants on site: Nemo's and Nestor's. Don't know about Nemo's but Nestor doesn't serve sandwiches or main food types after 1200 noon??? (Just chips/ice cream) You don't reach Nestor until about 1:30 or 2 hours into your walk, so this isn't at all helpful. Booked in advance after reading positive reviews, some people saying best they have seen and it taking over two hours to get round it all..what a load of rubbish.
We travelled from opposite side of island, took nearly an hour each way. I’ll never get that wasted time back in my life, I wouldn’t have minded if it had been worth it.
On arrival it didn’t look that great.
We handed the tickets/paper that jet2 had sent us to the misery guts girl in the counter who obviously didn’t want to be there. Super rude ignorant and acted like she was a customs officer checking out a fake passport as she stared at our paperwork with speaking to us..suddenly she said you can’t come in, you need proper tickets? I showed her it says on the paper to hand to person on the desk for entry but she said no we couldn’t come in..not valid?? She made us feel like we were trying it on, I spent 30mins on phone to jet2 holidays who were also confused as to why we couldn’t enter as this was the correct papers.
After about 40mins waiting like a suspect whilst Jet2 were looking into it she suddenly waved us in and rudely handed us a guide. I can only guess she didn’t know her job.
I wish she would have turned us away if I’m honest, it’s pretty poor and nowhere near as good as the sea life centres in south Uk. We walked round at a slow pace and was done in 20mins easily. Nothing spectacular to see and at £28 each for entry only just adds insult to injury.
Overall don’t waste you holiday time. I have no idea what planet some of these people who gave good reviews are on.

Great place to visit with small children. Normally ours gets boarded very fast in most of the “family attractions” but here he was excited to see everything the aquarium had to offer.
We loved the restaurant with the aquarium wall. Nice to have lunch with a view. Have to mention that the food is not good, but well, its an aquarium, not a food court. :) Good menu for children thou.
Really recommend it to families with small children. An excellent addition is the classical music in the background that makes parents be a bit more calmer when their sugar hyped up children run around! ;)

We loved this aquarium, fantastic for children with the different themes (jungle, beach and deep sea). The final huge tank with the shark was brilliant and we all sat there and watched it for ages. There was a queue to get buy tickets and then to actually get into the aquarium and the start was very very busy but it eases as you make your way through and it was a rainy day in August so likely a peak time. Worth setting aside half a day for and it's near the science museum if you want to fill a whole day. The supermarket/shopping centre has free parking for 3 hrs and it was a couple of euro for the xtra hour or two we went over,it was also easy to get to from the south, just follow the main motorway all the way through

This was so amazing we went twice. The first time we hired a guide who spoke excellent English. There were only two of us and he was really interesting and informative. The design is amazing and the variety of fish and other creatures was mind blowing. We were luck enough on both occasions to see the scuba divers feed the sharks. The guide also took us into the engineering and computer control area which was really interesting. However the stars were the fish etc. The tanks were well designed and spacious. The screens detailing the contents of each area were easy to use and very informative. There were places to eat and drink as well as good toilets,
.certainly one of the highlights of our week

Was on a cruise, and since we had been here in the past and did not take any cruise excursions we walked around the port area and stumbled upon the aquarium... It looked interesting and we thought why not! Well are really glad we did, it's beautiful, well laid out and quite informative. We stood in awe in front of many 'windows' the large room with the massive windows is spectacular; it was not cheap, but worth every penny we thought. We would go again

Visited here as a cruise passenger. We paid €25 each which isn’t cheap, however I was pretty impressed with how large the Aquarium was and the variety of marine species inside! Having said this, I just think charging €25 per person for an attraction that lasts little more than an hour is absurd. It’s a pity because if it were half the price, it would be an attraction I’d visit again and again when visiting Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, but the current price is just too steep for us to visit again any time soon.

This felt expensive at first (€25 each) because after wandering around upstairs, viewing some beautiful aquariums, lizards and some odd looking Pterodactyls we thought we'd made the wrong choice. They're nice, don't get me wrong but there lacked a wow factor.
Then you head downstairs and come across the most amazing aquariums. They're the best I've seen so far and absolutely had the wow factor. The 'tubular' one and the 'wide screen' one were simply magnificent. Absolutely worth the bus ride from Maspalomas.

We spent a good couple of hours walking around the very impressive aquariums. Highly recommended for adults and kids alike. We had lunch in the Nestor restaurant inside the exhibit. The restaurant had great views to a gigantic aquarium, but neither the food nor the level of service was up to scratch. Such a great attraction deserves a better restaurant!

From the outside it doesn’t look spectacular but inside it’s fabulous, much much better than the likes of the aquariums in Hull, London etc..
There are 2 hugely impressive tanks which take your breath away and if you have any interest in fish/sharks etc.. this is a must see and well worth the 25 euro fee
