Surprising
Jan 2021
Covid period. We had to wait almost half an hour and it was 10am, as only four people were allowed in. 6 euros admission. Fabulous. Screens showing the various trips, a staged interior of the boat, the house is magnificent and the treasures in the basement (a lot of stairs down and up but my mum managed with her iffy knees). Certainly worth waiting to go in. Even if history isn´t your thing, there is a lot to see, walk by, and the two resident parrots are fun. A surprising treasure.

Interesting visit

even if a part of the museum was closed due to works, it was still worth the visit. you learn a lot about the four travels Columbus made to the West - to discover what he thought was the east of Asia. well done with some very nice exhibits also from the pre-Columbian cultures (most are replicas).

Fine museum in a nice part of the town. Good interactive maps of the voyages. Well made models of the ships makes you realize how small they were and the courage and stamina of the men aboard them.

Good museum in beautiful building
Dec 2020 • Couples
Very interesting museum set in beautiful old building. Lots of good information about Columbus’ voyages and interesting historical snippets such as why the Canaries are called that and why Brazil is the only part of South America that speaks Portuguese. Top floor was closed off due to Covid, but still well worth visiting.

Worth visiting if you are into replicas/facsimiles.

Very disappointed and wished I could get back my 4 euros and time. The building is nice; however somewhere mentioned that he visited the place and wasn't really his residence. All things to do with CC were replicas. Great for kids but if you are looking for more, I'm told there are real artifacts in Sevilla... you can enjoy the authentic pre-Columbian displays. Sigh

We went primarily to get out of the chill wind but found it v interesting. Stunning building and good exhibits of Columbus voyages with some English explanations. Only 2e concession price but all museums are free on a Sunday

Way cool even if it’s not really his house
Nov 2019
This is not really Columbus’s house but he did stay here.

Actually seems to be the governor’s house but it’s filled with Columbus memorabilia about his voyages. Some history of Canary Islands but more would be better.
I enjoyed it and if your visiting, this is a must see.

Go in late afternoon and then head down to the south las palmas district for tapas.

A really interesting place to spend a few hours. A found out a lot about Christopher Columbus and the importance of the islands. The architecture of the building is quite fascinating. The layout of the museum is engaging. There is such a lot to take in but it’s also very relaxing and informal.
