The Museum of Nature and Man has organised a modern museum exhibition...

The Museum of Nature and Man has organised a modern museum exhibition project to present the investigation and conservation work conducted over the decades by the Museum of Natural Science and the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife. The result offers an insight into the natural wealth of the Canary Islands on the one hand, and on the other, it is a chance to discover the largest existing collection on the Guanche culture. The Guanches are the aboriginal people that inhabited Tenerife before the arrival of the first European conquerors.

This museum is packed full of information and exhibits about volcanoes, geology, the Canaries, wildlife and the Guanches. Unfortunately most of it is in Spanish. I bought the audio guide because I'd read this thinking it would fill in the gaps. It didn't. It just gave an overview of each gallery and gave the same information that is available on... More

Lots of interesting things for adults and children alike. Kept us busy for a couple of hours plus a visit to the cafe. There was a paper guide available for 1 Euro plus a plastic card in each room to explain things in other languages. Only 5 euro per adult, teachers, students and kids under 8 free. Cafe was very... Labeling of the exhibits is only in Spanish, although explanation cards are available in other languages, these do not contain translations as much as summaries. If you can, time your visit for after 4pm on Friday or Saturday, when there is no entrance fee, which is otherwise 5 euros per adult.

Wonderful exhibits but would be 100% improved by translations into other languages. My schoolgirl knowledge of the language just wasnt enough.

No English captions (though why should they, I know), some of the materials and presentation look a bit dated, and there's more representations of the natural history than actual samples. It's not a bad museum, but it was billed in the guidebook as one of the top sights in Santa Cruz, which it is not.

Faced with some Uk style weather - i.e. rather cold and very wet, we opted to cut short our sightseeing and visit this museum earlier than we had intended. It is very good, very reasonable in cost and apart from the lack of signage in English well on the way to being as good as it could get . Rather... More

There is very little English signage you can get an audio tour but it is an extra charge. Exhibits are uninspiring stuffed animals and broken pottery. Didn't inspire us at all, go to the military museum it is free and much better

This museum is a must if you are visiting Tenerife with the intention of seeing the real Tenerife rather than just the tourist bits. We began our visit with the "Menu of the Day" in the Museum Café which was excellent value. We sat in the splendid open air square inside the museum watching the little birds who seem to... More

It's a beautiful museum, with lots exhibits on history of the formation of each of the Canary Islands! A wonderful explanation (short movie) on volcanos. In addition you can see artifacts, animals and plants from each of the islands, along with the rest of the world. Only drawback is that it is entirely in Spanish and paying 3euros for the... More
