This is one of the five gateways to the walled city of Toledo. Much like the others this is an exceptional piece of architecture.

This is one of the gateways into the old city of Toledo. The walls of the city have been extended sideways to accommodate this gateway so that the road runs along the walls and visitors can enter the gate without turning. The gate was constructed...More

We walked through this entry gate many times in our two day stay in Toledo. It is near most of the other sights and is a great vantage point for photos as well as being a striking piece of architecture.

A very photogenic fortified gateway - worth the walk, especially past the oldest (and only standing) mosque in Toledo.Unfortunately we were there before opening time, and as we were part oif a tour, time did not permit us to revisit. Next time!

You can get a close up view of the upper part of this majestic gate from the gardens of the Cristo de la Luz mosque, which overlooks it. It is close to Valmardon gate and is well worth the time exploring.

The iron gate that lifts up into the tower still works and is hanging from above. It's interesting to think about all the people that must have passed through (or been killed at the gate during siege) over the past thousand years.
