Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture...

Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcázar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastámara dynasty.

If you have a car there are 2 good locations for taking pictures of the Alcazar by driving counter clockwise around the outskirts of the City. The first is on Cuesta de los Hoyos to the northwest of the Alcazar at a pull out for about 4-5 cars. The second is also northwest on Ctra. Arevalo-Erillas. There is parking along... More

Charming fairy tale style castle in beautiful Segovia, Spain. An interesting mix of Moorish style and medieval architecture. The interior is beautiful and very easy to get around, I recommend getting the audio-guide, it has interesting information and lots of history of the castle and Spain itself. The view of Segovia from the top of the tower in my opinion... More

At first sight (walking from Plaza Major) the Alcazar looks slightly disappointing (|and is mostly obscured by trees at the entrance) but if you have the time, energy and fitness to hike down to the road below you do get a more impressive perspective - a real Cinderella castle view. I was a bit hot and sweaty by the time... More

Looking like a fairy-tale castle from a distance, with its dark grey turrets prominent in the Old Town's skyline, the Alcazar is the greatest landmark in Segovia. Originally built as a fortress, it has served as a royal palace, a state prison, a Royal Artillery College and a military academy. This is where Queen Isabella was crowned as queen of... More

I had great expectations to see the castle from inside but it wasn't so great, it was an OK experience but for 9 euro it worth a visit. If you are there go up to the tower and enjoy the view.

Such a beautiful place! Very affordable to visit and do a self tour. If you hike down the hill you can get great views as well.

I loved the Alcazar. I did not went inside based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor but I did make sure to go to the tower. The view from there is absolutely amazing!! Segovia is just like a town from a fairytale land and from up there you're gonna see all of it. So, beautiful. I spent about two hours... More

We got a normal ticket with tower and audioguide. There's no guide in English. Tour was interesting but you could tell that castle was rebuilt. But nonetheless, still worth a visit if you are in Segovia. You can get nice pictures of the town from the grounds around the castle. There's a nice trail that goes around the wall of... More

I had great expectations for this place, and by all means, the alcazar is great. We opted for the self audioguided tour which was nice, but which at the same time focused a bit too much on the art and architecture for my taste. Guided groups can be big, so try to avoid going in the same pace as them.... More

This is a beautiful palace/castle from the inside and outside as well. There is such an interesting history behind that you must get the audio guide to really appreciate the building and understand the culture around it. Allow 2 hours for your visit. We visited under heavy rain and was still worth it!!!
