This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Barcelona is full of them!), a former hospital built by Lluis Domenech i Montaner, a well known Catalan modernist architect. The actual hospital has relocated, but the pavilions have been beautifully restored and provide a wonderful opportunity for fans of architecture. The gardens on which the hospital sits are also beautiful, a nice... More

I loved it here. Lovely buildings, fantastic architecture & decor. Good information dotted around the place. Quite a peaceful feel to it. Def worth a visit, even if not all of the buildings are open to the public.

Historical hospital with beautiful decorations, and was in use till this century. Although some of the buildings were required, the visit was still exciting for me. Current health care is not so accessible until this century, as one would see in the visit. Guided visit worth it for the details.

A lot of people were there but the place is so big and spread out, that it seemed very serene. Huge outdoor space to wander about. A good spot for a history buff too. Maybe not off the beaten path but no where as packed as the Gaudi sights. Peaceful.

Just 10 minutes walk from Sagrada Familia along Avingua Gaudi one will find another hidden gem of Barcelona. Its an old hospital built in 1905. Its truly a city within a city. The ceramic work and mosiacs are awesome.

What a great experience. The renovation of the hospital, the tile work, the decoration, just so beautiful. An absolute jewel.

Gaudi gets most of the attention but this is an excellent introduction to Montana, who was more conventional. It is also -- as seemingly always in Barcelona -- a very done cultural presentation and explanation.

Normally we wouldn't bother to review a place that already has almost 3000 reviews. What can we possibly add that hasn't already been said? But this place is so special that we have to add our five stars to the bundle it has already earned. It was our #1 favorite place in Barcelona for its combination of stunning architecture, soaring... Amazing building by Lluís Domènech i Montaner which is less known than Gaudi but also great architect of modernisme! Beautiful building very close from Sagrada Familia. The entrance is payed but super worth it - you enter the small courtyard with several small buildings all in modernisme style. The whole campus is old hospital, and you can see that the... More

It's a very interesting hospital (being used as a hospital until very recently). It's a treasure in Barcelona. See it with a guide. Mine was really fun and I really enjoyed the tour!
