Most museums that are devoted to Ethnology, display non-European artefacts. This museum used to do the same but all these have now moved to Museum of World Cultures in the centre of Barcelona. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this small museum. We first noticed it 6 months ago when we were going somewhere else in Montjuic. We decided that we go and visit the next time we were in BCN. The children liked the museum, it was a visit to all continents within Barcelona! The only minor was that it was very hot at midday, so plan your visit in the morning or not in July.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
