About
The Fundació Joan Miró was created by Miró himself, at first principally with works from his own private collection, with a desire to set up an internationally recognised centre in Barcelona for Miró scholarship and contemporary art research, and to disseminate the collection. The Fundació opened to the public on 10 June 1975 and has since become a dynamic centre in which Joan Miró's work coexists with cutting-edge contemporary art. With an interdisciplinary approach, the Fundació organises temporary exhibitions of 20th and 21st century artists as well as academic activities and projects in collaboration with other institutions and organisations. Through its exhibition and educational programmes, the Fundació Joan Miró explores lines of research linked to the work of Miró and to contemporary art. The Fundació is located in a building designed by Josep Lluís Sert, making it one of the few museums anywhere in the world in which the complicity between artist and architect underpins the dialogue between the works and the space that houses them. The Fundació offers an overview of the landscapes of Joan Miró's art and life, creating an enriching dialogue with other artists from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Stunning
Aug 2021 • Couples
Excellent art museum displaying some of Joan Miró’s most famous works. The collection is of high quality and relevance, and, while not big, large in significance.

Just seeing the building itself is worth the modest entrance price as the views over the city are just wonderful.

In addition to the museum there is a good café and a large art shop.

Good place and good museum
Aug 2021 • Friends
The space is well decorated and the masterpieces are well disposed.

However, Miro’s style is very particular, sometimes very strange and not very explicit.

The access to the foundation is relatively easy and the place is really cool.

a memorable experience
Mar 2020
Set midway up Mount Juic, this superbly conceived museum integrates Miro's artistic vision with surrounding vistas from its terraces overlooking the city below. Architecturally speaking, the building is in sync with Miro's style. Descriptions of each work include a translation in good English (congratulations to the translator), though, to be honest, I stopped reading them and instead gave all my attention to Miro's mesmerizing visuals. Videos show him at work The museum isn't large so two hours could be more than enough. There's a bus from the foot of Mount Juic.

Love this Painter and the Museum

The minute you walk up and see the Miro sculptures on the grassy area, it's a sight to see. Very contemporary in design, houses one of the best collections of Miro. An assortment of very large canvases and small ones too. Best to go through with a tour guide or the head set is a must. Plan on 1-3 hours at best.

Not worth

Such a small exhibition left me dissapointed! Yard and outside objects was locked. Pathetic Espai 13. Inquire if its all open by call before having an idea to go there. For the ticket price of 13 Eur it is not worth visiting.

Loved the Fundacio Joan Miro
Mar 2020 • Couples
I am a long-time huge fan of Joan Miro and I loved the Fundacio. I have been before and would go again. It was my husband’s first trip to Barcelona (not a big fan of the artist) and he was glad that he went. The skip the line tickets made entry quite quick and easy. Note: these tickets do not include audioguide but you can purchase on site for 5 euros more.

Lovely walk up through the park, not suitable if you have walking problems. We did this gallery after the National art museum. Check to see if fountains are operational- sadly not on our visit.

Very nice museum! To do for those that like Miró’s work. You can Easley spend half a day there, the museum is surrounded by green areas so nice for a picnic. The museum has a “resting area” for kids in the middle of the visit!

Great Art Lovely lunch
Jan 2020 • Couples
We had a very interesting and satisfying visit to this fabulous building, looking down on the city, surrounded by parkland. The art was representative and beautifully displayed, some outside.

Lunch is reasonably priced and perhaps your plate might also be presented as a Miro portrait.

Took a bus, no haddke with correct changefor n enjoyed the drive through the city and park too.

Enthralling large collection
Jan 2020
There is so much of Joan Miro's work here from early paintings, dramatic large canvases and intriguing sculpture displayed clearly over multiple levels and outside areas.
