Have done a fair amount of travel over the years and Barcelona and the seville are the latest places. Barcelona has a lot to offer, vibrant seen, good dining/hotels and excellent things to do - good museums, music, great mass transit easy for non spanish folks to understand and a lot of nice folks. However, when you talk to folks... More

This was the favourite guided tour we did while in Barcelona. The tour walked from Plaça de Catalunya to the Picasso museum in the El Born area of the city. The walk lasted about an hour with frequent stops to point out interesting places where Picasso had lived, dined, left his mark etc. There was a five minute break before... More

A very dear friend and Professor of Architecture once told me 'When in major cities do not look at your feet when you are moving around look up to the sky and admire the beauty that is there'. This can be difficult, particularly when in Barcelona, because of the number of people on the streets. However, on the top deck... More

Worst city I have been to for pickpockets. I had my purse and phone stolen within minutes of arriving in Barcelona Sants. Luckily we had removed our credit and currency cards somewhere safer, but still unpleasant. Barcelona needs to do more to prevent this. I have travelled to many major cities including Rome, Venice, Florence and Geneva and never had... More

I bought the 2.30hr for the tour in Sagrada Familia including Casa Batllo and La Pedrera, but honestly, more than one hour spent in the bus it's too much. The Batllo and Pedrera seeing from bus it's not a big thing. One can walk alone there and see it. Inside the Sagrada we were not able to go up because... More

I really enjoyed the walking tour with Macu. He was very knowledgeable about Barcelona and its history. It was a great experience.

While local walking is fine, the metro is the best way to get around the city. Purchase multi trip tickets at any of the machines. You can use credit cards but you need to know your PIN; otherwise cash will work. You can buy a single ticket for 2 people to share, or individual tickets. The maps are easy to... More

These self empower so called staff will intmidate you into a fineable offense. First go around was 600€ fine. Oh my goodness. Finally came out to be 50€. This was completely uncalled for - as in no reason for a fine. Just jerks. And after spending over an hour with these "police" - what a waste of time & money.... More

My wife and I used this metro system to get around during our stay in Barcelona in mid may and found it to be fast and efficient. The stations were very clean and people for the most part were friendly. There was a guy even giving away free ice cream cones ! I would not hesitate to use this great... More

We used both the metro and buses to get around. They are very efficient, on time and clean. My wife and I used them during the day and even late at night and felt very safe. Bravo to Barcelona's mass transit system

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
