We really enjoyed this tour. I highly-recommend breaking off to see the museum, which humbly displays the works of several great masters in the most unassuming place you'd expect to see them, and without any great pomp and circumstance. There are a great number of walking tours in and around this area; unfortunately, we didn't have the time. But we... More

I took train at Plaza De Espana and caught cable car from the foot to the convent, I was so impressive by the convent, was really really beautiful and I can not find an appropriate word to describe my feeling at that moment, but only "WOW"! It's better to go there in sunny day than rainy I think, otherwise you... More

We caught the tourist bus from Placa de Catalunya then the connecting train ride to the top. The cathedral was amazing,,,difficult enough to build nowadays let alone centuries ago with primitive gear and access. Inside was absolutely stunning...the architecture and trimmings...what splendour! The adjacent art gallery was first rate.

My husband and I had quite an awesome time at Montserrat! It was scenic and there was a bit of hiking required as well. Once we reached there by train, we had to take a cable car up to the monastery. The whole area were full of tourist of course and at a certain time, we can all enter into... More

I had a great time. Montserrat was absolutely gorgeous! The tour gave a good overall info about Montserrat. After it I took a funicular to the top to enjoy a 360º view of the area at 3000ft above sea level. It was impossible to see anything because of the weather, but it is not under anyone's control... So it was... More

We have mixed feelings of our day trip to Montserrat. We were leaving Barcelona on Sunday evening after a short trip and decided to drive to Monserrat for a day trip before we left. Arriving at around 11am there was no parking available in the parking zone yet cars were being let in so we wasted 15 minutes or so... More

We caught the train out of Barcelona - bought tickets for the train and the cable car to the monastery. It was a spectacular ride and view. Pictures turned out breath taking. Rode the train back to the bottom of the mountain. We took a venicular ride to the very top and more incredible views. The church is beautiful We... More

Unless your religious stay in Barcelona. Montserrat is a small village set in the mountains with outstanding views. The highlight is the catholic monastery, where you can attend mass or touch the virgin & ask for a miracle ! The cafe is over priced & the food is shocking. The views are outstanding but not worth the money or time.

Wow! Just amazing! Don't miss this day trip from Barcelona. Took one hour by train to get there and then about a 20 minute wait for the cable car. Worth every second! We took the funicular for a quick hike. The photo opts were unparalleled. The street vendors sold the exact same items from one stall to the next. I... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
