This place is really worth the visit. If you don't fancy walking up the hills, there are coach tours and cable cars. It's a lovely walk in the sunshine though, plus some spectacular views. Not many places to eat though, so I'd suggest bringing plenty of water and some food.

My wife and I walked around Montjuic for several hours more than we thought we would. Going into the castle is a must and the understated exhibition is very good. So much history and so central to most of what has happened to the city through the ages. It's at times brutal history was at odds with the peaceful sunny... More

You can get up there in many ways but the best is by the pnicula. Between earth and sky u get to view barcelona like a bird. One should take a picnic basket up to the mountain and have one in the gardens.

The strongest point in this attraction is the great view you get from it. It is also covered in flowers – at least during spring. The construction, honestly, let me down a little bit, as I was expecting a castle and it is a fort. The tickets are not expensive and from there you can take a trolley car all... More

My friend got robbed in this park with the knife (luckily the robber just pulled it out but did not use it). Barcelona is generally full of thieves - I got my camera stolen on the beach. But knife is really too much so be careful in this park.

The views of Barcelona from Montjuic are spectacular. It's best to go I the afternoon, when you aren't looking into the sun. You can walk to the top but a better use of your time is to get there on the cable car or taxi or bus

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
