Carrer Montcada is situated in La Ribera from Placeta d'En Marcus in northwest to Placeta de Montcada in southeast. Carrer Montcada is a must, when you are walking around in La Ribera. It is a cosy an idyllic road. Carrer Montcada is a pedestrian way with none or very few cars. In some places the road are very narrow.

This is a charming street that runs along the Picasso Museum and ends at the back of the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. If you are super short on time in Barcelona and do not have the luxury to explore the vast Gothic Quarter, this one street, paired with the Picasso Museum which is housed in medieval constructs itself... A very old narrow street, which history goes back to the 12th century, with many fine palaces, nice windows and balconies and a lot of details you can admire. It is truly an atmospheric street with a scent of medieval life.

We went to see the Museum of World Cultures and the Museo Europeo de Arte Moderno, which are adjacent to the Picasso Museum. This area has very narrow streets but is quite interesting, and it has some very good stores.

Carrer Montcada is one of the best known gothic streets in Barcelona, narrow and framed by two lines of nobiliar palaces built in XIII-XVI century. I can remember Palau Dalmases, where actually you can see flamenco shows every day, with its wonderful patio, Palau Cervellò and Palau del Marques de Lliò, that hosts the Museum of the Cultures of Mon,... The Carrer Montcada is a nice narrow street in the El Born district. Lined with impressive buildings, it is home to the Picasso museum as well as many grande palazzos or mansions. Highly recommended!

The Carrer Montcada is a very narrow street and is very busy because the Picasso Museum is located on this street and there is always a long line of people waiting to get into the museum. There are some interesting stores on the street.

Barcelona’s Carrer Montcada is lined with a succession of medieval, Renaissance and baroque palazzos, their majestic doorways opening to reveal their beautiful courtyards of venerable stone. They bear witness to the rich and glorious past of medieval Barcelona’s main street which was home to the city’s nobles. Its name derives from the important Montcada family from Barcelona who, it appears,... More

An unusually broad and dead street for its time,in the eastern part of the Gothic Quarter, understandably attracted Catalan well- to- do as a residential pick. hell, i want an apartment here, too. The noble, palatial villas, most of which are grouped around open courtyards and staircases, have been resurrected as museums and galleries. Its easy to see the link between the harbour and the... Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
